Re: Detelecine and Decomb Necessary?

Thanks for the reply. So basically I can just keep it on at all times with no downside? Does it make the file production take longer? I'm basically ripping from DVDs so I assume the source is progressive but I'll leave it on if it can't hurt.

Thanks and let me know?

Detelecine and Decomb Necessary?

In the past I read it was recommended when using the Universal setting to set Detelcine On and set Decomb to default for the best overall picture. Is this still necessary in the new version of Handbrake if I am utilizing the new Universal setting? If so what benefits would it create? Thanks in advan...

Re: Source, Output & Anamorphic Question

Thanks. I was wondering if it was something like that. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't sacrificing a better picture on the TV for a better format on the iPhone. Appreciated the response.

Source, Output & Anamorphic Question

Hey All, I've been using the Universal input and was curious about something. When I load source files and select Universal (or Apple TV) and start with a source of 720x480, I may see an Output picture setting of 720x352 and an Anamorphic of 834x352 Loose. However if I select Xbox 360 or PS3 with a ...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

Nightsrm and TedJ thanks for the turbo replies. I appreciate it and I feel like HB has found the silver bullet with The Universal preset pumping out files at or around 1-2 GBs. I'm going to add telecine and decomb to my personal preset. Since this is a "Best Settings" thread I'd like to sh...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

No. I worked with the devs on the final design of the Universal preset and I use it exclusively for all non-HD encodes (albeit with decomb+detelceine picture filters enabled). Advances/changes made by the x264 devs no longer encodes using CRF to have as high of values to return output distinguishab...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

Can anyone recommend settings that will work on a PS3 as well as an iPhone 3G? I am using a mac and I would love to be able to just do one conversion. I can't find that combination posted anywhere yet.

Thanks!

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

Do you have a PS3? I could stream to that. Or do you use those same setting to Stream to AppleTV?

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

OK, here is what I am currently using. I am currently using post-snapshot code, so some of these features may not be available in .9.2 (and one is only available via a patch currently). Big difference is always using CRF=64 (except for concert DVDs... this high of a value typically results in a ver...
