Re: converting AVCHD shot at 24p

I have the Canon HF100 and shoot PF24 as well sometimes. Whatever mode though those Canons store the footage at 60i--for example if you load directly in handbrake or imovie or whatever it will read as 30fps but show combing (you get 18 progressive frames and 12 interlaced ones). I tried the deteleci...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Uggh. No dice. Bridge lights up and thinks for a minute, then the stupid ?. Without the cable OK. Either orientation fails, like yours or like mine initially with red stripe at 'front' and reversed at adaptor (relative to yours). Searching for alternative :x Update: I decided to go internal for now ...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Hi Dyna, Thanks! Long story short I am 99% there but I'm having the dreaded extension cable problem. I ordered this Syba bidirectional sata bridge http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186032&Tpk=syba%20bidirectional which I've seen a few others try--one in this thread and one...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Hi Dynaflash, Wonder if I could ask you a few things. I'm excited to try your sata mod and ordered all the parts but ran into a snag with the 2.5" 44/40 adaptor. I ordered this http://www.cablesonline.net/44pinto40pin.html to be used with this http://www.cablesonline.net/644fetomaide.html just ...

Re: Limit the Video Bitrate for AppleTV

I would wrap your head around this from the wiki for VBV: http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/VBVRateControl In my experience with a dozen or so blu ray rips so far I keep the ATV preset almost stock. I modify to keep aspect ratio to 1280 x XXX and I kept b-adapt=2, bframes=3 from my DVD preset. I've trie...

Re: Eyetv files consistently crash Handbrake with AppleTV preset

I noticed the same thing with my EyeTV files only with .9.3, where ~1 in 4 would crash it. But it was fixed by compiling from SVN. Been flawless since then. There was a checkin, don't remember the number, related to OTA broadcasts that I assume is the guy. Just grab the latest from SVN.

Re: Blu-Ray Wall-e loses sound

just a suggestion for OP, I bought Wall-E blu-ray as well and had no problems in .9.3. I favor GUI's so I have TsmuxerGUI alongside Tsmuxer installed. I just add the m2ts, remove the unecessary streams, and go leaving everything else default....which means "adding timing info" and "in...

Re: DTS-HD to AC3 for AppleTV

So what if I don't want the best DTS decoding? Will -libav do it? that is what I used and was fine. I did not buy Nero or Sonic. I'm a bit command line phobic so I actually used Eac3toGUI in addition, but all I did was choose 640 bitrate and libav decoding for AC3. I then remuxed in Tsmuxer and pas...

Re: DTS-HD to AC3 for AppleTV

you don't need nero or arcsoft absolutely--I dont have them either--but I think they are recommended for incremental increase in DTS decoding quality (?) vs what is prepackaged with Eac3to (I think)...I dont remember specifics of this though. In the end, I don't think I could tell the difference per...

Re: DTS-HD to AC3 for AppleTV

I use Tsmuxer and Eac3to successfully...I bought Wall-E bluray without realizing there was not a separate surround AC3 track. Tsmuxer will extract the DTS core if you choose to demux, I then ran the audio only stream through Eac3to (exact audio copy) to AC3 and remuxed in tsmuxer and worked great......

Re: Any plans for an HD AppleTV preset?

Rodney, I did not request a new preset. Merely responded to the original poster. In the context that HB can accept, for example, bluray m2ts streams or HD eye TV recording in addition to SD DVD I merely said it is possible using the current ATV preset with some minor adjustments to get a great resul...

Re: Any plans for an HD AppleTV preset?

wow, i didn't make any guarantees to the previous poster about knowing the source fps nor did I make any request for HB to be "bastardized" or do anything different from what it does. I have no idea where this came from: We don't know, we can't know, and if I have been adamant about anythi...

Re: AppleTV Advanced Settings (Post PsyRDO)

thanks dynaflash, I had tried some vbv limits initially with some eyetv HD recordings (I scanned the old advanced settings thread and ~4900/3000 buffer was the norm I think), but did not find it necessary with those and didn't really come back to them. My understanding is that the ATV can handle pea...

Re: AppleTV Advanced Settings (Post PsyRDO)

720p to fit the 720p 50" plasma. At 720 and CRF of 56-58 is where I usually have HD encodes so far, both from OTA and a few blurays and these will flirt with ~5mbps. I dont think I could get a good enough result at 5 mbps and 1080, although I actually haven't tried. There were some difficult sc...

yeah, i forgot to mention in my last post, that in the context menu (hold play) I'v only ever seen chapters--never seen alternate audio selection for any file (even when the ATV was playing 5.1 properly). I know they're in the file cause I can see them in QT movie properties...grrr but couldn't forc...

Re: AppleTV 2.3 update breaks AC3 5.1playback?

If I may add my recent experience with this... --all of a sudden 2 days ago NONE of my encodes were outputting 5.1 anymore. These were ripped with AAC + AC3 and range from snap 5 to .9.2 --after going crazy swapping cables, trying different inputs on my receiver, and trying test re-encodes I couldn'...
