Just check the box so that HB will add the chapter marks. Then, you only need to do one rip, entering your settings one time and writing the file name one time, to be able to jump to which ever episode you like.

I should have done more testing before I said anything about that iPod rip. It turns out that the sync is perfect when I play the videos in iTunes. The ten second mis-timing only happens on the iPod. It could very well be an iPod issue rather than an HB problem. I'll be at that Tango dance conventio...

Honestly, you expected copying the contents of a disk image to a NAS folder to install a command-line program? Unbelievable. And now you can't find the tab in the middle of the window? A gold star for you, sir! I think the worst part is that unless the Mac GUI owner changed my UI layout, the checkb...

Do you think it matters which codec, container, and other settings were used? I had the same problems with missing chapters. The DVD's were instructional for Argentine Tango dance, so I'm sure you don't have a copy around your house to test. I also had another problem that you fixed a long time ago....

You did *install* Xcode, right? ...I looked into the Xcode files and found a PDF... What a clever place to hide them! Well, to be fair, we normally look for an app with the word "installer" in the name somewhere. Also, we look for a ReadMe file or installation instructions. This disk image had neit...

Any idea why Terminal would say "make: command not found" when I type that command? This is exactly the sort of question I was trying to avoid having to deal with by writing "Please don't ask for support on this process." So, is there someplace where I can go to quickly learn what I need to know to...

Any idea why Terminal would say "make: command not found" when I type that command? Thanks.

PowerMac G5/2x2, Mac O/S 10.4.9, Terminal 1.5, and the latest Xcode and RapidSVN.

...Anyone can download HandBrake's source code whenever they want, compile, and enjoy Cyander's accurate chapter times and chapter titling system... I downloaded Xcode and RapidSVN. The checkout went fine. But, I couldn't figure out how to navigate to my folder, Volumes/SHARE/Developer/HandBrake I ...

So, who gets to break the bad news? While 0.8.5b1 has chapter support (which is huge), the next release is the one that has near-perfect chapter sync (within a frame or so, versus about 16 frames now), and support for entering chapter titles. I hate to bug you about this, but do you have any estima...

When you say "next release" do you mean the release version, which could be months, even years away, or do you just mean the next beta which would likely be sooner?

Cyander wrote:...Well, the good news is that we now know how to make chapter tracks work for iTunes. It isn't a mystery anymore, which means other tools will be able to eventually incorporate the feature in the future. :)

Guys, you have no idea how excited I got reading this thread. I nearly soiled my panties. ;-) This is big, big, big. All the volunteers working on HB are awesome. I have hundreds of instructional DVDs where the chapter marks are critically important, that's why I haven't ripped many of them to mp4 (...

mp4 video == video in the .mp4 container, not mpeg-4 video... Thanks for the correction. So, m4v=mpeg4 video? ...HB doesn't support Matroska anyway. I eagerly await someone implementing it, because it would be very awesome... Agreed. ...BTW, .mov can have menus too. See Metadata Hootenanny. Yeah, I...

It seems to depend on the DVD. The last couple I looked at had simple menus with a video playing behind static buttons - this whole thing was stored in one of the vob files, and I converted it using ffmpegx. But, those buttons wouldn't be functional in a MP4 video, right? Of course not. I've heard,...

works great in our current svn. Will also be in our upcoming new release :) Well, it works, if you don't mind your chapter markers being about 1/3rd of a second off due to sync problems. I am looking at ways that chapter information can be correctly propogated using the FIFO queues to make it frame...

...This would be really good for music DVDs (of which I have many), but it's probably not useful for movies, etc. Actually, I would love this feature too, even though I don't have any music videos. I only rip DVDs that I'm going to view repeatedly, that's almost never a regular movie. I have hundre...
