HandBrakeCLI.exe Crashes

Hello, I'm using the GUI to convert some videos to put on my iPad (Using the AppleTV3 preset, though this is also reproducible using the Normal preset), and right at the start of encode, 15-20 seconds in, it will hang, and HandBrakeCLI.exe will crash (The GUI is still up and I can start another enco...

Re: Video Has Static?

Automatic crop is still on, I never turned it off, not sure why it didn't crop anything when I was encoding in the first place. I don't have the encoding logs, because I think I did most of these encodes on an old computer I don't have anymore, since they're not in my log folder. If/when I reencode,...

Re: Video Has Static?

Because I'm OCD and I want it to match the rest of the files. :p

I'll size it down, I suppose, I just didn't want to have to rerip everything to "match", but I guess I will...

Re: Video Has Static?

Well, I found out what the problem is, even though I'm not sure how to fix it yet. I was looking at the file sizes, and I noticed that most episodes were hanging around 400-600MB, except for this one (and one other, which I found by looking at file sizes, later in the season than I've watched so far...

Video Has Static?

So here's an extremely odd, non-reproducible issue I have with Handbrake. It also has to do with XBMC, so I think there's a chance if I ask here I'll be told to ask XBMC, and over there I'll be told to ask here, so I'll just throw it out there and see if anyone has any ideas... I've been ripping my ...

Crashes in Specific Places?

I chalked the first one up to chance, but I've had two movies now that crash Handbrake when doing an encode from a Blu-Ray rip. The first was Rambo: First Blood Part II. It crashed about three times during encoding, and always at the same spot (Or at least I think it was the same spot, the file size...

Can that only be done through the command line? I'm using the GUI, and not quite comfortable with the CLI.

Pause/Resume Issues?

I have just started encoding 1080p mkvs, which (this goes without saying) takes a long time. A few years ago when I started doing DVD rips, I had issues using the pause/resume feature, where there would be a small jump in the video. Since then, I stopped using that feature for DVDs (Mostly because t...

Re: Re. Smooth mkv playback @1080p

I think there's something else going on, because I'm able to play them fine on a lower system. I have a Macbook C2D 2.16Ghz, 2GB RAM, with integrated graphics, and they play fine. I only have a 13" screen, but I can either scale to fit, or do normal size and only see part of it, and mine are ru...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Taggi

Thanks for the reply! Two more quick questions... Using your workflow, is it (relatively) easy to keep a commentary track in as well, so I can keep the regular audio as default, but if I feel like listening to commentary I can switch the track? Also, using the CR of 22, how big do your files end up ...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Taggi

I haven't really seen anything one way or the other in this thread about soft subtitles (Except one person talking about experimenting with them). I'm looking to start ripping my blu-rays to use in Plex, but I like the soft subtitles idea, which I know is supported in .mkv files. While I can get the...

Re: Interlaced / Telecined "Database"

Auto-filtering is coming next release, right?

I suppose that might be the better route to take. Will it be able to handle mixed content, and deinterlace/telecine where necessary, but keep progressive content untouched?

Interlaced / Telecined "Database"

Maybe this should go in the Ponies forum, but I'm not sure this is something that the developers really need to coordinate. With all this talk of Detelecining, and VFR, and everything going on these days, is there some sort of database that has information on DVDs out there, and whether they're prog...

Handbrake really does have everything I want except a good system for interlacing. If we can get something that produces the same (Or visually indistinguishable results) from the "blend" method (My personal favorite) of deinterlacing in VLC player, I would be the happiest man alive.

Interlacing and the AppleTV

As I posted in the general forum, I'm getting an AppleTV next month, and I have some concerns about the interlacing on the anime I watch. I have a TV that handles 720p. I really don't want to use the built-in deinterlacer in Handbrake because it gives the whole video an unfinished look. I have previ...

Now here's a good question: I know that the Apple TV has been hacked to Hell and back already. Would it be, in any way possible, to install a high-quality deinterlacing filter into the AppleTV to produce the same quality output as VLC's blending, for example?

Deinterlacing options?

I watch a lot of anime, and I'm planning on getting an AppleTV mid-may, and I absolutely adore this program, but I have some concerns as well. The deinterlacing option causes the whole episode to look kind of...unfinished. I realize that the codecs (or whatever the correct word is) used for deinterl...

Wait, what? Does that mean if I -don't- deinterlace the material, it just won't even work at all?
