Re: AC3 Audio missing on Apple TV

The apple tv looks at the first aac / ac3 set of tracks as the same from a ui standpoint, it uses the aac if it does not detect a dolby 5.1 capable audio device and the ac3 track if it does and you have Surround turned on in the atv's Settings > Audio menu. If you were to add say a third aac track ...

Re: AC3 Audio missing on Apple TV

Yep The problem only seems to be on this disk - Incredible Hulk - but the ability (or lack of) to select alternate audio goes through my whole collection 150+ encodes Did a test using the Apple TV preset today. The AAC audio and AC3 audio were present in iTunes but only the AAC was present on the ATV

Re: AC3 Audio missing on Apple TV

Well, you're custom preset is specifying the AC3 Passthrough track first and the AAC encoded Track as second. This is backwards from what the AppleTV expects. See the built in AppleTV preset audio track order. It is that way for a reason. That is true, but i have never been able to select the alter...

AC3 Audio missing on Apple TV

I have encoded my IH DVD which plays fine in itunes and has 2 audio tracks - the AC3 passthrough and the Dolby surround - however when I play the file on my Apple TV it defaults to the Dolby Surround, which no other file does. I've tried using the play/pause button to select other audio, but this br...

Re: Problems with Star Wars DVDs

You're going to want to post the Activity Log for troubleshooting purposes. Please see the red box at the top. And, are you sure you're selecting the English track in the "Audio & Subtitles" section? As I said, I can post the log, but before I even get that far, the problem arises whe...

Problems with Star Wars DVDs

I'm trying to encode my Star Wars episode 4 & 6 but everytime I do, I get the film in a different language, including the opening "crawl" This happens even when I'm checking the video settings before ripping. I only get one option for which title to encode from as well. I can post an a...

Re: Dialogue too soft, everything else loud

Just one thing and I may be wrong

If you're using the optical out, then surely the Apple TV will be using the AC3 track, which you cannot apply DRC to?

Have you tried using the analog outputs and then AAC track?

Trying that now

Would you suggest using the apple tv preset or Cav's / Dyna's settings for CQ?

Blocking in Batman Begins

I've been trying to encode Batman Begins but am getting alot of blocking on some frames. I've tried numerous settings but with no success. Here's the log for the Apple TV encode [23:19:24] macgui: Handbrake Version: svn1477 (2008053101) [23:19:25] hb_init: checking cpu count [23:19:25] hb_init: star...

Re: ATV 2.x Advanced Settings (All Sources)

Ok,

So what is the general consensus, for the best settings to use, to get the best quality when using ATV? The preset or something like Cav's setting using CQ?

I'm using handbrake 0.9.2 btw

Yeah....tried that. At one point it was quoting 85 hours!!!
jbrjake wrote:Constant Quality Rate
So would you set that at 68-70%?

Also, my Batman Begins has some blocking on some scenes.........is that a "post your activity log" scenario?

If file size is not an issue, just quality, what settings?

Just curious.

I've got plenty of free space on my external HDD and am a bit of a cinephile (sp?)

What settings would give the best quality?

In the user guide it says apple tv preset........is this the general consensus?

64 bit files not working

Noob here Everytime I encode a fole that ends up being bigger than 4GB, HB stops and that's it. I have enabled 64bit MP4 in the preferences and the tick box but no joy. I am using the Apple TV preset with Cav's advanced settings CRF 68% - bframes=6:ref=6:mixed-refs=1:subq=6:me=umh:no-fast-pskip=1:tr...
