Evidence

Here is a little information that may or may not help anyone solve this. I ripped "Waking Life" full disc with MTR 2.6.6 using an iMac G5 and its stock drive. I then moved the VIDEO_TS folder to my macbook (Intel, obviously) laptop to encode with Handbrake SVN build 472. I had dropped audi...

I have tested it. Just read a few lines above... The ffmpeg encoder is very fast, so it wouldn't cost you that much time. Anyway, thanks for the infos. Yeah, I didn't really read all that since I wasn't coming here for help, but more to share what I have learned. If I didnt have a huge queue in han...

Can you please try using the ffmpeg encoder and post here your findings? I will not be trying FFmpeg and posting my findings here, I use h.264. Not to sound like an ass but like I said I am not single handedly trying to fix this, I am just offering my knowledge. Stuff encodes slow on my computer wi...

I finally had the time to test the files on my setup. The DPLII file played amazing (I know other people have already confirmed this but though I would too). I cannot wait until this makes it to an SVN release. I will be downloading it as soon as I see it mentioned in the trac timeline. Great work! ...

I encoded "blood diamond" again with the same settings as above except 72% and it worked. I tried 74% once again after that and it crashed again, as explained above. It seems like it could be a bug, but maybe not. Maybe certain %'s for certain movies cause the program to hang or maybe it w...

I have also noticed HandBrake 0.8.0b2 (SVN version downloaded/compiled on 3/30/07) crashing when I do constant quality (CRF option enabled) rips. I am using an iMac G5, I set it to h.264 main profile, 192 AAC (stereo) audio from the 5.1 AC3 audio track, 74% quality, chapters enabled, anamorphic sele...

Great! I will definitely give the sample a try when I get home from work. I am so happy to hear their may soon be DPL2 output from handbrake. IMHO it is the best option for ripping DVDs for use with Apple TV, and ever since I read what Apple TV's audio capabilities were I immediately suggested DPL2 ...

Awesome

That is great to hear. Especially for Apple TV owners, as it will sound better than the downmix of 6-channel AAC. Great work! I guess the developers forum is where to look for an announcement of when the latest svn will include this. EDIT: Is there a place where I can check to see if the SVN build I...

Like it

I like it but I like the look of the selected tab on the website now, and the shadow button when you highlight a tab, maybe make it like it is now only in those colors. I think that would be cool, but also not as different.

incubowski Did you read this: Ten Myths of the Apple TV: 5.1 Audio That's the best explanation of the ATV audio situation I've seen so far. The next version of Handbrake coverts the DVD's 5.1 Soundtrack to 5.1 AAC which seems to be the way to go. Here's a quote from the article: " most receive...

Another way to get 5.1

I copied this from another post where I originally wrote it, but it seems to make more sense in this post. If that is not kosher I am assuming the moderators can just delete it from one of them and I apologize in advance. So I think it will be amazing if the next version of HandBrake mixes the 5.1 A...

Out of Curiosity....

So I think it will be amazing if the next version of HandBrake mixes the 5.1 AC3 Dolby Digital Soundtrack to Dolby Pro Logic I Surround (4.0 channels) for the purposes or watching on Apple TV (or whatever else for that matter). However, is there any technical reason that the 5.1 AC3 Dolby Digital So...

This basically sums up everything anyone needs to know about Apple tv and what settings to use. MacTheRipper 3.0 14

I was finally able to rip the just the main feature that mediafork would encode using MacTheRipper 3.0 14. I had to ENABLE (not disable, as it states elsewhere) Prescan then rip just the main feature. This worked for new sony titles such as Stranger than Fiction and Running With Scissors. From readi...
