Question about USB 3 vs USB 2 with Handbrake
So I use handbrake on files on USB 3.0 external hard drives, but it goes through a USB 2.0 hub to my Mac Mini that has USB 3.0 ports. So my question is this. If I plug in the USB 3.0 external drive directly to my mac, or through a USB 3.0 hub, will my conversion speeds be faster?

Re: OS X 10.10 - Yosemite
I have Yosemite and it's not crashing when I add other files to the queue. However, whenever I'm trying to add files and I scroll, it will crash. Every time. Not the biggest of problems, but it is a bug.

Subler can set the HD flag, and eve nest which HD flag (aka 1080p or 720p). It's also open source freeware and can do tags even iTunes hasn't implemented yet.

Re: [Rejected] iPhone/iTouch app to begin/pause/cancel queue
It's been a few years, think there's any chance of getting a remote back? I love using JDAnywhere so I can setup downloads on the bus, it would be great if there was a Handbrake remote to start conversions too. Use VNC. Yeah...I was hoping for something a bit...better. VNC can be slow, crashy, and ...

Both presets use variable framerate, BTW.

Re: Advice for my preset?
Well, I've looked at the AppleTV 2 preset and I haven't seen any difference in video or audio quality. However, I've noticed my encodes are ranging in different sizes from my original preset, mostly smaller (sometimes larger) however no matter what the encodes are faster. I attribute this to variabl...

Advice for my preset?
Hey guys, I've kinda made my own preset for all my videos (HD and DVD sources). My requirements are as follows: 1. Capable of playback on/in: iPhone 4, iPad 2, AppleTV 2nd Generation, iTunes 2. Highest video/audio quality possible, as long as requirement #1 is not breached (simple, right?) So here's...

I use this external drive with my iMac (running natively under OS X) for DVD encodes using HandBrake & Blu-ray encodes using MakeMKV: Plextor BD USB Model PX-B310U I have used it for nearly a year now with no problems. see also discussion here: http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=4&am...

Re: An American Werewolf In London MKV Won't Work :(
Ooh, the subtitle thing never occurred to me. I don't turn them off out of laziness (I delete the mkvs once handbrake makes an m4v, and handbrake never sees subtitles anyways). I'll do another rip, making sure that only the required audio is there, and no subtitles, see if that helps (and will post ...

Hey guys, I got a shiny new bluray drive for my mac this christmas and thanks to MakeMKV, I am happily converting my bluray discs for my iPhone :D! Ability to auto add preset name to filename?
Hey guys, I love watching handbraked videos on my iPhone and AppleTV, so when I have an HD source I make an HD and SD copy. While I'm fine with using two presets, it would be a lot easier for me if, whenever I click on the HD preset, it adds the name to the end of the file (FileNameHD) and the same ...

I'm looking at the new Ripit and I'm not seeing anything referring to handbrake from within the app itself. A pity. I was always hoping you would be able to choose your handbrake presets from within ripit.

Custom Picture Chapter Markers for iTunes/iPod Videos?
Hey guys, one of the great features of Subler has been the ability to have picture chapter markers (no more exclusive to iTunes Movies!) Re: Is it possible to make a dual HD/SD file for iTunes?
I use handbrake all the time for HDSD. Just make sure the resolution is width 1280, and for bitrate you're going to want somewhere between 3000-5000 (people seem to be happy with 3-4, but I do all mine in 5000 and am very happy with it). Tada, you now have 720p HD rips (note, you can't get HD from a...

BluRay DRive for my Mac?
Hey guys, I have a bluray player for my TV to watch awesome movies in HD. However, I want to migrate to the AppleTV, and build an impressive iTunes HD Library. Re: Optimal Settings for ZuneHD?
I would recommend a 1280xX res (so it's not cropped), with at least 2.5Mbps bitrate, that way it'll look kick ass in HD on anything, look the best even on the tinier screen, it's the best way to go. For example, iTunes HD files (and Zune Store HD files) that you would buy would have what I said abov...

I had a crashing problem with 0.9.3, then started using the latest snapshot build (all on 10.6) and have had no crashing. I have no activity log (not sure how to get one of those, especially when there's no problem), but using it might be something to consider.

Re: Snow Leopard darkened all my movies
It should be noted that I am on Snow Leopard, am using the latest snapshot, and have not noticed my conversions being any lighter or darker than they should be, or were in Leopard (yes, I reconverted from the same source to prove it). While this may just be me, not a solution, it should be known tha...
