Re: Handbrake Stopped Working Reliably

Yes, if the system reboots, it's not HandBrake's fault.

Re: Handbrake Stopped Working Reliably

There are been a few reports of such issues on Intel CPU with many efficiency cores. But no one in the developer team has one to test so there isn't much at the moment we can do.

Re: M3 pro CPU only a few percent faster than the M1 CPU using Videotoolbox

The media engine is a separate part on the chip, and it's probably almost the same as the M1, plus the addition of an AV1 decoder. So the CPU and GPU performance won't affect the speed much when all the job is done by the media engine. It would be interesting to compare the quality of the output, ma...

Yes actually the option should be available, please post the scan log so we can have some more info on your source file.

DTS can only be added to the MKV format. 1.3.3 showed impossible options.

I think your video has a short frame at the start that breaks QSV. Try setting a constant Framerate.

The GTK GUI doesn't support multiple parallel encodes yet, it has been implemented only on Windows and macOS at the moment.

Re: Is this speed is normal? [NEWBIE]

Yes, the issue is that your cpu has so many cores, but video encoding can't scale too well to more than 12 cores anyway.

The mastering display color volume info can be added manually in the additional options field, but first you need to know what's the actual info. Do mediainfo reports them in the source file?

Re: Mac mini M2 (base) inconsistent performance

The difference is that the GUI starts preventing sleep at the being of the queue, and releases the assertion when all the jobs are done. Instead calling the CLI multiple times means the sleep assertion is released after the CLI exits, and a new one is created again. Probably macOS changes things in ...

Re: dolby vision8.4 not recognized in andriod app

It's seems the decoder isn't reading any of the dynamic metadata associated with each frame, as seen by all the "rpu: missing rpu, no fallback available" messages. Can you share a short sample of the source file?

I wonder why the first runs on the right qos class, but the following does not. Could it be the shell fault?
It should be possible to use taskpolicy to launch it and set the correct qos.

Re: Mac mini M2 (base) inconsistent performance

Maybe the scheduler decides to run it only on the efficiency cores for some reasons, the CPU Activity window in Activity Monitor should display which cores are in use.

Does the same happens when using the GUI?

I don't think libbluray reads the necessary metadata yet, so the only option is to convert it to mkv using MakeMKV at the moment before opening it in HandBrake.

I guess the actual recording is in the .scc file, but it could be a proprietary format that HandBrake can't handle.

A .screenflow is a folder containing many files. I guess the actual video is inside the ScreenFlowDocument.dat file, but it seems HandBrake can't handle it.

Re: Mac Videotoolbox OpenCore systems not showing 10bit option

HandBrake asks the system which encoders VideoToolbox supports. VideoToolbox doesn't support 10-bit H.265 on AMD cards (even if the hardware supports it). On your iMac it's using the Intel hardware encoders instead of the AMD ones. The encoders are a dedicated piece of hardware, so it doesn't matter...
