Re: Ryzen 3900x performance issue

Disable the Decomb and Comb Detect filter, if your source is progressive you don't need them.

Re: How to encode damaged video

Unrelated to your issue, but you should upgrade to HandBrake 1.2.2

Re: How can I tell if I already HandBraked a movie?

There is a "HandBrake 1.2.2" or similar metadata written in the file. You should be able to check with mkvinfo or mediainfo.

Re: pixelation in DVD encoded video

The next version will have a 120 seconds countdown on the alert message to give people time to actually read it instead of skipping it. :P

The dvd is copy protected. HandBrake doesn't remove the copy protection. You can use makemkv to copy it first to the Mac and then use HandBrake.

Re: Usability Issues

2. You can set it to the maximum size in the new preset window.
3. Of course, but no one implemented it yet.
4. Yes, but I don't remember right now.

Re: Usability Issues

1. Set your preferred options in the preferences.
2. Save your own preset with your preferred format and make it the default.
3. You can scan an entire folder right now, and add all to the queue.

Re: iTunes converting my m4V to MPEG?

This whole thread makes no sense. There is no way iTunes is converting mp4 files to mp3 or similar. Woodstock, the way of putting chapters in a separate track is the the way Apple introduced in the '90. iTunes supports chapters just fine. The TV app on iPad shows the chapters only for movies, but no...

Does the activity log show how much grain is there in the video?

Re: Extreme Variation in File Size

Random noise or grain can't be easily compressed. Older movies usually have more video grain.

Variable Framerate was not well supported by some players 10 years ago. Nowadays usually it works on everything.

Re: Invisible VOB Files

libdvdcss still works in 1.2.2, but you need a recent version of the lib (the one in HomeBrew should work). Anyway, MakeMKV usually works better.

Re: Fixing standard DVD encoded to 1080p

HandBrake doesn't upscale the video. So your files will be still 480p. Check in your player or mediainfo to be sure.

Re: How Can I Remove mp4 Edit Lists? (-use_editlist 0)

HandBrake is not a FFmpeg cli gui, so you cannot apply that ffmpeg command. I highly doubt the simple edit list produced by HandBrake is an issue on YouTube. Even if your original video had some, encoding again with HandBrake will remove them.

Re: Losing saturation after converting

Thanks. That file has two different color tags: one in the container (bt.2020) and one in the video track (bt.601). In HandBrake-CLI you can overwrite the color tag with the --color-matrix option. There is no way to this in the GUI yet. You should report the issue to Xiaomi, because such file is inv...

How was the source created? It's 4k, but has a color tag that was used for SD video 20 years ago.

HandBrake already supports ASS embedded in MKV. If you want to add an external .ass file, you need to use a nightly build.

Re: Data file format

Make sure the file has got a file extension (.mp4 or .mkv). If you delete it from the file name field handbrake won't add it back for you.
You attached an unrelated activity log.
