Re: Snow Leopard Compiler

Do you have any tips on getting it working with clang? I can't for the life of me, it fails out in linking with some libmkv error, and even getting that far requires some mucking around (explicitly telling libmp4v2 to use g++ as the C++ compiler, for example) I'm building through Terminal, Xcode see...

Mysterious: make sure you're using 0.9.3 or later. It should work with essentially everything.

Re: "Broadcatching" with Automatic, Transmission, and Handbrake

Hey! I'm about to write an ap to do this for the PC, but I wanted to check if there was already one out there. If anyone knows of one, can you let me know? I don't want to reinvent the wheel, I just want to reinvent what already exists on the mac!! I was told that you could tell utorrent to execute...

Re: AppleScript and do shell script

my sources are pretty consistent -- I use a version of dynaflash's advanced AppleTV settings (soon to become the AppleTV preset), which is basically bf=3:ref=3:8x8dct=1:cabac=1, and crf=23 because my sources are HD

erm, it's not QT taking note, your whole display should be noticeably changing. Note that 2.2 is said to be "PC/TV gamma". please, everyone who is complaining about this, please note that there's very little chance (about as much that the moon is made of cheese) that HB 0.9.3 and a QuickTi...

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)

The overarching problem is iTunes/QT/ATV won't even play subtitles by default unless you specify a preferred subtitle language. This is, of course, a backdoor way around it. You could say your language is (insert obscure language that Apple supports by default), and your forced subtitles will appear...

maybe because you're using a crappy deprecated codec with an even [Censored] ancient container on a crappy torrented source.

Any chance you'd be interested in posting the script you came up with? I'm trying to achieve the same result, but haven't been able to figure it out. I'd refer you to http://code.google.com/p/videoengine/ for an about 95% complete, stable, easy to use implementation. http://code.google.com/p/videoe...

Re: Consistent Handbrake Crash

This is a bug in 0.9.3 to do with bad H.264 decoding done on Mac's with SSE4 instructions (iirc Core 2 Duo or later). It seems to rear it's head rather randomly, as you'd expect, yet with a bias towards AC3 sources, which makes no sense. I convert many mkvs daily, and this was fixed back in January ...

When I play the video in VLC, theres always one subtitle track called "Track 1". When selected it just says "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2" and so on. that's how VLC displays the text track that Quicktime uses as a chapter track mp4te will do subtitles on Windows: http://www....

Re: Handbrake quits when trying to convert MKV to MP4

I have been trying to convert some MKV files to MP4. I would say that about 4 out of 5 of them do not work. Handbrake quits in the middle of the conversion. For my settings I start with the AppleTV settings and then modify them a bit to account for an HD source. Here is my most recent log. HandBrak...

Re: Google/HTC Android G1 preset - Official support request

ffmpeg has suboptimal config issues with x264 -- x264 and ffmpeg developers alike highly recommend using presets as a result of this is this any different than the iPhone preset? It doesn't seem so to me Is this any different than the iPhone preset? Who knows -- I am actually proposing a project. F...

Re: Handbrake and confused audio settings

I've tried, but have been unsuccessful at reproducing this. Your log looks normal. Any chance ffmpeg is lying to you? I tried several discs including a PAL disc. The output audio stream problem is apparently for real. If ffmpeg were lying to me, then so would mplayer and vlc (although they are some...

From my work on porting FFmpeg, I realize that a lot of people are interested in using FFmpeg on the iPhone. Perhaps even more people would find FFmpeg on the iPhone even more useful to them if a GUI front-end was available. from spending time on ffmpeg-dev IRC and keeping up with the ffmpeg-devel ...

mp4tags (a CLI implementation of libmp4v2, written by the libmp4v2 project folks themselves), or subler (a GUI implementation of libmp4v2), are both free alternatives that should be helpful to you in this case.

Trellis 2 will work with psy-trellis. I don't understand deblock as it relates to H.264, but only a fool would touch it without very good reasoning based on the advice I see given elsewhere. You can use subme > or = to 6, so subme 9 is fine too. My bad. I got my mathematical signs mixed up. I read ...

Re: H.264 vs. FFMPEG: it's all about content

ok you have to reread this thread carefully basically deinterlacing is something to do with the source -- and so is deblocking in the filters tab. both 'filter' the source video to deinterlace or deblock. the deblocking under the advanced tab is about something called a loop filter that H.264 uses ...

That sounds like something to tout as a feature of the encoder: always on deinterlacing without any loss of speed! Do you mean the Decombing option under "Picture" or the Deinterlace option under H.264 Advanced Options. If I understand correctly the Deinterlace H.264 option compares...

not familiar enough with video encoding to say exactly, I assume very stationary settings, like a recording of a lecture or something
