Re: Motion judder on "Get Smart" PAL
I noticed decomb bob is now an option. Does that give a smoother picture than deinterlace bob? Wondering whether to go back and re-rip ...

Re: Which preset I should use for playback on different devi
Can anyone comment on the cross-platform compatibility of encodes using the Apple Universal and Apple TV 3 presets? My primary devices are Apple but I'm wondering how much freedom I'll have to use other platforms down the track.

Re: Handbrake, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and system sleep
Annoying, but in the meantime I presume setting computer sleep to "never" while ripping will work? You can still let your display sleep. It should work, yes. Logical as it seems, no such luck. Gonna try unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" and see if that makes any...

Re: Motion judder on "Get Smart" PAL
For the record, deinterlace slow didn't work but deinterlace bob did.
Incidentally, can anyone comment on the quality of deinterlace bob vs decomb default (my usual filter of choice)?

Okay, how about in the Device presets field they add a note: "ATV 3 - use High Profile (below)"GregiBoy wrote:Why do that when Handbrake is not only used by Apple users?

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***
Seems unlikely that new presets will be made, when the curent ones work fine. While that may be true - you would be saving so much time out of everyone's life who is going to ask which preset to use and everyone who has to answer the question, over and over. Maybe they can just rename it "High...

Personally I'm happy to continue using Universal for all SD rips, and High Profile for HD (as per the latest advice from the devs).

Re: New iPad and Apple TV presets
Don't suppose this would be enough to prompt a new "official" release of HandBrake, or will they stick with their annual schedule?

iPhone 4S yes, iPad 2 no ... as far as I can tell.Rodeo wrote:iPhone 4S, iPad 2 already feature official support for 1080p (since iOS 5).
Thanks y'all for the tips on a custom preset. However I presume it'd be better to wait for an optimised version once the hardware is out?

Re: Great software! - New versions?
Question for the devs: Assuming Apple implements 1080p support in Apple TV, iPad etc. this year, how long would it typically take you guys to create a preset for it? And would it necessitate a new version of HandBrake, or would we just load the new preset into the current version?

Thanks Ted, I've tried fast deinterlace and it's still a problem so I'll give slow a go.
Oh, and sorry for not mentioning first up that I was decombing - obviously a critical detail!

Motion judder on "Get Smart" PAL
I've been ripping DVD movies and TV shows, both PAL and NTSC, Regions 1 and 4, for several years and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. All five seasons of Get Smart on PAL DVD exhibit motion judder when ripped using HandBrake's Universal and Apple TV 2 presets. The problem is mai...

Re: iPhone anamorphic "at full size"
One more question, sorry guys: I don't really understand how ratio aspects work with DVD playback, so I'm wondering if I should turn anamorphic on for every encode, or only for those marked "anamorphic" on the cover.
i.e. Are all DVDs more or less anamorphic?
Thanks.

Re: iPhone anamorphic "at full size"
Sorry, one more question: What are the relative merits of iPhone/iPod touch vs iPod hi-res presets as starting points? I realize the iPod preset has a higher audio bitrate, for instance, but are there any other noteable advantages?
