half procs on new machine & 0.9.5

Hi, So, I recently just got a new 12 core MacPro (2.93GHz). 24 GB ram, & tons of storage. I just upgraded to 0.9.5 and I am only getting half the procs on the machine running. I've never run 0.9.4 on this machine. I have the latest 64bit version of VLC and Handbrake. Any clues as to why my procs...

Re: AppleTV to support Dolby5.1 Natively

I'm putting money on the AppleTV using AAC with 5 channels in the .m4v file... same as the movie trailers from apple.com/movies

AAC -> AC3 on the fly over toslink + HDMI

Why do I think this?
AC3 stream is too large to to transfer over interweb

This Thread is for Advanced Settings for the AppleTV (unhacked). The fact that you used .mkv, shows that anything in this thread isn't applicable to your situation. You may want to start a new thread under the proper Forum. Seriously? The fact that I use these encoding settings in a different conta...

Sorry, I didn't think you would mind one slightly off-topic, but related question, since after all the Category is "iPod / iPhone / AppleTV, and your original post only thinly involves HandBrake!?! :D Ahh... no i don't mind. Just thought you were asking in connection to the original post. :win...

Resume Encoding

Alright... so i'm sure we have all been in the situation when we are 90% done with our encode ... and the guests start to arrive and the missus wants the computer turned off cause it sounds like a jet engine (so unreasonable). :P It would be super sweet if there was a resume encode function... same ...

We are not talking about a AppleTV here... just a macMini loaded with BackRow (appleTV software). MacMini's firewire port works just fine

you should be able to do this pretty simply with apple script. then go to your dvd-prefs and tell it to execute script on dvd detection.... just remember... no one setting is perfect for all dvd's. documentaries and tv shows will very often be interlaced. you would have to decide how you want to han...

BTW: I still don't get why Apple doesn't output 6 Channel AAC as 5.1 PCM over HDMI at the AppleTV. That would be a perfect solution. What is the difference between Apple feeding the audio thru HDMI or out the digital port? bandwidth limitation on optical (if i remember correctly?). AC3 is really on...
