Re: Very quick question about "Strict Anamorphic"
Strict anamorphic prevents the output video from being rescaled, it sounds like you want to disable cropping instead. Try manually setting your crop values to zero.

Re: Feature Req: Deselect all
I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to here. By default, HandBrake scans all of the available titles on the DVD that meet the (configurable) minimum duration then selects the longest title or the title corresponding to the main feature.

Re: Adding .SSA subtitles to mkv/ mp4 videos?
Going to need to see a log for your attempted encode with the MKV source with muxed subs. To the best of my knowledge, HandBrake has never supported any external subtitle format besides SRT.

Re: Keep 16/9 cropping ratio
To keep the best of the video to fill in the screen. That's the problem with cropping 4:3 or 21:9 material to fill a 16:9 screen; the "best" of the video will change repeatedly due to the framing for each scene/shot chosen by the cinematographer and director. The "pan" in "...

Gosh, instead of starting to complain maybe help the guy out. He obviously don't know how to submit an activity log so help him with that and show him how to. Because out of a forum of 20,000+ users there are maybe a dozen people, including the developers, who take the time to regularly answer supp...

Re: Best Setting For Apple TV 3 / MacBook Air
Start with the ATV3 preset, switch the x264 preset to slow or slower, add the film tune and decrease RF to 18. The resulting encode should be indistinguishable from the DVD source.

Re: Updated HB now ripped video unwatchable
The problem here is that while libdvdcss can be installed alongside the HandBrake executable it has never been officially supported by the developers and is not guaranteed work. The fact that it currently works is coincidental and may change at any time. The official stance, which also applies to th...

Re: unable to get both channels
You'll need to mix the two mono tracks into a single stereo track before transcoding with HandBrake.

Will everyone besides the original poster please start their own thread with an encode log? We now have four people running two different OSs, using two different tools to pre-rip... the last person isn't even encoding from DVD as far as I can tell.

Re: UNABLE TO RIP WITH HB - RECENT NEW MACBOOK PRO, 16GB RAM, I7, NIVIEDA
I tend to either build from source or run the latest nightly build myself. As such I would recommend upgrading to 0.10.0, if only for the new mp4 muxer and NLMeans denoiser.

Re: Audio Track Unknown Language
The audio track information is stored in the playlist (mpls) files. Rather than opening the transport stream (m2ts) directly, open the folder above the BDMV folder and let HandBrake parse all the available titles (including chapter, audio track and subtitle information) as it does for DVD sources.
