Re: Handbrake missing features
Hello, i would like to know why it isnt possible to "MERGE" several VOB input files into a single end file like it is possible with programs like Leawo Dvd Converter or Daniussoftware. Furtermore is it possible to implement the new free video codec VP8 ? Thank you. You can make direct MKV...

Re: TV series for i'tunes
On the other side, it's always better to pass all the "tvshow" movies through a real tagger, because the "stik" atom is not set by iTunes even when changing the "movie type" by hand. So, set the "stik" atom to "TV Show" with something like AtomicPars...

Re: Combine two titles into one file?
With MakeMKV you can repack a single title into a MKV (losslessly, also the language data is there). Then use mkvtoolnix to join both files, encode the joined file and recombine with the original one as you wish (for me, it's encoded video, pass-through audio and vobsub subtitles). Still have to try...

Hi everyone and very very many thanks to all devs and admins for the great work done, both with the program, that gets cleaner and cleaner with each release, and with the forum, by maintaining the level of discussion very high by squashing trolls and noobs. I am a noob and I was squashed just at the...

Would you elaborate on that? I'm using both MTR and FM+DTOX but I can't see a winner. A more informed view could get me to the right side of the street!

You can already convert a mkv (provided ffmpeg can read it) into anything that HB can output. You load the mkv as a source, then set your settings, then encode, et voilà...

Re: Copy DVD without recompressing video
With some rippers (at least MacTheRipper) you have the option to output a single VOB of the title. This contains all the audio and all the subtitles. Then you open your VOB in MkvToolnix or any other muxer and save in your new matroska container. Beware that subtitles, afaik, are not supported this ...

In other words, learn how to use your TV set and your AppleTV. This is not a problem of the handbrake program.

Re: Combine two titles.
You're just plain right! Anyway, I think that it would be a very interesting feature to have, being that there exists at least one movie that is pressed in more than the 9 GiB limit. The fact that I am absolutely unable to do it myself as a developer (I'm not in A/V field) and that I hoped that some...

Re: Combine two titles.
As already pointed out in another thread, some movies are encoded in more than 9 GB of mpeg2 data (films span two discs, and the joined movie would exceed the 9 VOB limit for a DVD title. In my case, the three LOTR EE boxes have this problem). So, even if you can make a single 14 GB dvd image from t...

Crazy? DVD menus in quicktime files
Maybe it's just plain crazy... When you export a Keynote presentation (with effects and so on) into a quicktime movie, the result is an interactive movie where you can click here and there and move through the movie clip. Maybe something could be done to achieve the same for DVD menus, like integrat...

Re: About to Convert 400+ DVD's and need a Reality Check...
There's always the expectation that on a whim we can have a movie on an iPod for a trip Encoding at low resolution for iPod/iPhone (think something less than 1024 macroblocks - 16x16 px each) is WAY faster than encoding cabac crf and all the stuff for high quality home theater experience. I think t...

Re: New GUI Layout Idea
It would be good to have a multi title DVD rip into a single file, for kids' short cartoons for instance (anyone Pocoyo?). It's better for kids to have 8-10 5 minutes chapters in a sigle movie than to have to selct them like episodes of a series (more like 30-60 minutes each). My baby daughter is 3 ...

Re: About to Convert 400+ DVD's and need a Reality Check...
Let's say you rip more or less 6 movies into each iMac. It will take 3-4 hours not counting the walking time. Then you'll upload to the common share. If the file server has gigabit ethernet, you'll get a theoretical max throughput of 1 Gb/s, that's 128MB/s. If movies are more or less 6GB each, you'l...

I got to the same solution (using 'cat' in terminal) and I'm currently encoding the movie. I hope that the audio track order is the same in the two files... Re: Trouble with anamorphic settings
Maybe the XBox does not support anamorphic... In that case you're left to get the "low" quality KAR selection. The anamorphic setting will not add pixels to the sides, it will only instruct the movie player to stretch pixels horizontally before displaying them. So if the player does not su...

Although 9 GB won't fit in a DL disc, not counting all the .IFO, _0.VOB etc.peterjcat wrote:It makes some sense that a movie that you have to split over two DVD9s won't fit onto a single DVD9 without recompression -- assuming some of these 2-discers are created out of necessity rather than pure marketing.

Re: How To: Rip, Encode and Combine Using Fairmount & DTOX
Hi, I hope that anyone is still reading this thread. It's all bout combining two DVD into one movie. I'm trying to do this for LOTR (rip w/ MTR, extract the two halfmovies w/ DTOX, combine the halves int the same title in a new movie w/ DTOX) The point is that in the third step the resulting title ...

This is the first half of the fellowship of the rings (EE), title 1 is just over 6 GB, without counting the "0" vob (titles?) http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj266/savjo_2008/Imagen1.png and this is the second half, just below 6.5 GB. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj266/savjo_2008/...

And even more, in FrontRow/AppleTV you'll listen to just the first audio track.
Also beware that as for now AppleTV doesn't support more than one AC3 track anyway.

Re: Multiple DVD to single TS to get over the 9GB limit
That was exactly the point of the question starting the thread. I think the problem is not the size, but the filenames, they have to be VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_9.vob (note two digits for title number and one digit for vob number, this is the same that the known limit of 99 titles, 9 vobs per chapter)...
