Re: Video quality settings for @TV Take 2...

You had problems with cabac on ATV 1.x because your vbv numbers are insanely high. Do you even know why you use vbv? You might as well not use vbv at all. I would suggest "re-searching" the device forum and the ATV specs, for better numbers to use. Huh? I know the numbers are widly high, ...

Re: Video quality settings for @TV Take 2...

ATV2 with HB 9.2 is great! I can finnaly have my own Kaleidescape system without spending 30K! I have been waiting for DD for so long. :D Before take 2 I was using basically a variation of nightstrm's settings. I want to see what this thing is capable of so I amped up my settings to this: GUI settin...

Re: Video quality settings for @TV Take 2...

You could set the vbv-maxsize and vbv-bufsize (I think those are the names, I'm at work so I can't verify). This would basically set a ceiling for bitrate spikes. This was very important on the ATV1.0, but I have yet to encode a file that dropped frames due to these spikes with the ATV2.0. Maybe if...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

According to the Wiki, ATV "struggles" with CABAC. Is the Wiki just out of date? Did ATV2.0 solve this?

Re: AppleTV to support Dolby5.1 Natively

I'm sure I'll throw out my current encodes and bump up CRF to .66-.68 as soon as Steve announces the 32 and 64GB 3G iPhone later this year. Wouldn't be the first (or second, or third) time I've restarted. Can you give me a quick (layman's) explanation of why you use CRF at 60-something percen...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.

ATV doesn't work too well with CABAC on Not true..as along as you are capping your bitrate to fall within specs, it works just fine. There are plenty of us that are using CABAC (cabac=1;trellis=0 for me) with our AppleTVs. Hmmm, interesting. I messed around with CABAC on ATV when it first came out ...
