Reencode with audio delay?

I've got an mp4 video w/ AAC audio that has a bad delay (about 600ms) that I'd like to fix. I'm guessing I need to reencode the video with a delay built into the audio, but I can't see anywhere in HB that I can select an audio delay. Is there a way to do this manually for this video, maybe something...

Re: Encoded Video Format not Supported on AppleTV

Try dropping the output res to 960 wide and leaving it at 30fps. I tried this, and it does work. I'd still like to try and find out what about my 720p encode the AppleTV doesn't like though. The resolution should be within range, the FPS rate is correct, the bitrate isn't too high and I didn't use ...

Encoded Video Format not Supported on AppleTV

I'm encoding a HDTV version of the Robin Williams special to put on my AppleTV. The file was recorded in 30FPS, which I thought was the problem at first, but even when I change it to 23.9 it still doesn't like the file. I'm using dynaflash's advanced AppleTV settings which have always worked well fo...

Re: DTS Passthrough (sort of)

Forgive my misunderstanding, but would this allow the AppleTV to pass a DTS audio encoding through to my receiver like it does AC3, or would the AppleTV just look at it and say "I don't know what this is or what to do with it" and ignore it (or possibly not play at all?) I know the AppleTV...

Re: ATV 2.x Advanced Settings (All Sources)

Okay, to revisit this, here is where I am at: most encodes 62%, archival * maybe * 63% ( minimum quality gain for a fair amount of bitrate/file size anything over that for dvd is a complete waste afaiac ). Same as source frame rate Detelecine on (enables true vfr encoding) . Unless known to be prog...

AppleTV HD Settings

I modified my AppleTV Preset to have a constant quality of 65% which works great with a DVD source, but with an HD source, the bitrate can easily climb above the AppleTV's limit and won't sync because of it. What CQ % have other people been using for their HD sources? Does the 62% used in the defaul...

Re: AppleTV 2.3 update breaks AC3 5.1playback?

So it looks like pretty much every one of my movies needs to be re-encoded as I did all of mine with AC3 only. There are some of them which I don't have the original source anymore (moved) to encode from. Is there a way to take my encoded m4v file from HandBrake and have it reprocess the file and ad...

Dear Handbrake,

Thank you for allowing me to encode mkv files. I hate VisualHub, and I'm glad that I never have to use it again.

Love,

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

I am using the 19.99 bridge from http://www.nanosys1.com/hd-cnt-cu-satahd-ide.html. It worked in first try itself. The only problem is the 44 pin IDE cable. I have ordered the flat extension cable. I will try that and will let you know what happens. Well there goes my entire theory. My $12 bridge d...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Hey, IN the other thread (we really need to stick to one or the other). Looking at your pics of your cable/bridge orientation I think you have it 180 off. Try laying it out *exactly* the way I have it in my pic in the original post in this thread first picture where I have it laying flat out. In yo...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Note that in the original thread Cave Man had problems using his original pata/sata bridge with the cable for whatever the reason. Only when he switched to that syba bridge did he get it working. When I looked over that thread I noticed the exact same thing which got me wondering about it, and that...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

I am confused if I need to use 44 pin M-F extender cable (http://www.cablesonline.net/544pinidelap1.html) or 44 pin M-F crossed cable (http://www.cablesonline.net/644fetomaide.html). When I connect 44 to 40 pin converter (http://www.cablesonline.net/44pinto40pin.html) directly to the Apple TV (with...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

It looks like we need the extender cable and not the crossover cable as shown in the initial post. I'm having the exact problem you are with the cross-over cable but not when the unit is plugged directly into the logic board. I think I'll try and get a standard extension cable and not a cross-over c...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Well, I have found that I have to plug in the drive first. Then the atv. Seems the atv fires up faster than the drive spools up. At least with my drive anyway. I've gotten that to work now as well. But now I'm at my next problem: The system tries to start, the drive spins up, everything is well and...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

UpdIf the drive is turned on the ATV waits for a very long time before giving the ? icon, but if the drive is turned off the icon comes up almost right away. Either way even with the bridge in the other way it still won't spin up the drive. Well, if the drive is off it comes up right away cause it ...

Re: eSata AppleTV Mod

Update: I tried turning the bridge upside-down on the cable to see if it was backwards and now instead of only a red light on the bridge I get both a red and green light. It sits but still doesn't spin up the drive. If the drive is turned on the ATV waits for a very long time before giving the ? ico...

Hey, I followed your thread at the Mac Forums first and then came here for your writeup and parts list. I ordered everything in the list (except I used a PATA -> SATA adapter that I got from my local computer store, it looks exactly the same as yours and has the same chipset number as the Syba one y...

HD Movies and DTS Audio

I've been downloading movies I already own on Blu-Ray from BitTorrent sites (don't have a way to endode them myself like I can DVDs) and saving them to my AppleTV and watching them in all their HD and Dolby Digital glory, but recently it seems like most of the HD releases aren't AC3 anymore, they're...

Re: .mkv files for AppleTV

So is using VisualHub my best option? Yes, re-encoding them to 720p HD Main Profile H.264 with VisualHub (AppleTV 5.1 setting to keep the AC3) will give you everything you want. Unfortunately many MKV users use High Profile H.264. The only advantage of High Profile is that it will encode the same q...

.mkv files for AppleTV

Hello, I've got a few .mkv files that are in 720p HD with AC3 audio in them. I'd like to play them on my @TV, and right now the way I'm doing it is using VisualHub to transcode the file to a .mov with the AC3 passthrough so I get HD video and AC3 audio. All my other DVD rips I use the latest SVN bui...
