This remind me an old bug related with multithreading decoding when ProRes was added to FFMPEG about 3 years ago.

Re: Unwanted - Handbrake set the first frame to black
I would appreciate if this issue could be added to the bug list to be fixed in a future roadmap. You should agree with me that this is not a normal behaviour for the output content to be different from the source.
I also expose a clear usage case where it cause a problem.

Re: Unwanted - Handbrake set the first frame to black
Thank you for the additional informations. I don't think it's a format thing because using FFMPEG with the same x264 encoding options didn't set a first black frame. Also with bframes=0 give me a file of 1.3MB instead of 816KB. ffmpeg -i source.mp4 -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:v libx264 -preset medium -crf 2...

[Fixed] Unwanted - Handbrake set the first frame to black
Hi, I have an issue because Handbrake make the first frame of my video black. Even if I try to skip the first frame or even more using an offset, the first frame of the encoded video is always black. This is an unwanted behaviour because I will publish multiple short videos on a popular website fron...

Re: svn4335-4345 : Errors blocks when converting ProRes file
Thank you very much for the quick workaround and sorry for misthinking it was an Handbrake related bug.
It works perfectly now.

[Fixed 4346] Errors blocks when converting ProRes files
Something in Handbrake is causing video artifacts when I convert some ProRes file to x264. I started transcoding ProRes files with svn4335 and most of them were okay but some were not. I don't test it with lower versions but the bug is still present in svn4345. As Handbrake use FFMPEG for decoding a...

MPEG2 TS block parity check and error correction
Handbrake is awesome but one important feature is missing. It would be great if you can include a block parity check and error correction for bad blocks in mpeg-2 stream as you already fix discontinuity issue. Using firewire I can capture the raw stream including all the encoding and transmitting er...

Re: Detelecine option is broken with EveTV HD capture files
Thank you, I try it and it works quite well but some frames still remains combed. That's strange because it's a clear 3:2 pattern and there is no "hybrid" section in that clip. I thought it wouldn't be hard to correctly identify and drop telecined frames. Maybe that's just another tweak I ...

[Not Planned] AAC pass through option
An AAC audio pass-through option would be welcome to avoid loosing sound quality when compressing a movie that already contain that kind of audio track.

Detelecine option is broken with EveTV HD capture files
Hi, I have a video file with a clear 3:2 hard telecine pattern but Handbrake detelecine option fail to remove them. I guess as it's a file from an EveTV HD capture box the duplicate frames causing telecine may not be exactly identical so the detelecine option fail to identify and drop them. I hope y...

Re: Deaf people may rejoice (if in an NTSC country) CC are here
@eddyg : I try the CC with DVD input and it's working fine, great work! :) Do you plan to add support for CC from NTSC MPEG2-TS input files? It would be nice so I won't need to extract/re-add them manually using CCextractor then Subler as I do now. I can provide you a test stream if you need one......

@s55 : I did that on a daily basis when there is nothing to do on the job. Sometimes it's really funny to read and that's helping me with my english as I'm not a native speaker. I also know where the project goes, not posting bugs you already know... @dynaflash : I think I go on irc maybe 3-4 times ...

Re: [EDIT]Missing frames at the beginning, HB x264 file as input
Thank you,
I try r2411 & r2412 and everything is working perfectly now.
Handbrake is an awesome app and as I'm using SVN versions and reading irc logs for the last 2 years I just want to tell to all Devs : Wow, you did a wonderful job guys, HB is better day after day!

[Fixed] Missing frames at beginning, HB x264 file as input
Hi, I use HB to convert MPEG2-TS files into x264. I'm using these settings to keep the maximum quality before I delete the original file : Clean SVN 2407 checkout + jbrjake last decomb patch : HandBrake Activity Log for /Users/media/Desktop/1 - Madonna - Hollywood.mp4: 2009-05-09 12:32:18 -0400 Hand...

Mode 8 vs Mode 9
I did some compare between mode 8 vs mode 9 with the option :-1 to apply it on all frames. Here is an interesting situation where mode 9 seams to do nothing. See by yourself : Original frame : http://xpload.ca/handbrake/compare_mode/original.jpg Mode : 8:-1 (EEDI2 only) http://xpload.ca/handbrake/co...

Re: Combing Detection
Jbrjake, For now, mode 9 give me the best result I ever had with Decomb. Tomorow, I will test and compare with mode 8 to see the diferences between these modes. After mcdeint do you plan to add other new mode like a NNEDI port? Some say it's superior in quality to the "older" EEDI2. What y...

Re: Combing Detection
Great! I will give it a try... Mode 9 will be okay since 8 won't filter anything. ;) I like the idea of a binary system like Unix permissions. This will give a lot of freedom to "power" users. Thanks EDIT : Jbrjake, could you check the patch (#498) because I'm unable to apply it on a clean...

Jbrjake can I ask you to add it to the low-priority enhancement ticket list when the patch will be checked in? -> Add a new mode that force decomb to use a specific deinterlacing method for combed frames only. Thank you for the reply Feedback on the EEDI2 Patch : I use it since you post the first pa...

Re: EEDI2 Port
I'm using the Mac GUI on SVN2257 x86_64 with the last EEDI2 patch 494. How can I decomb all the combed frames with eedi2 only? I try using the custom string 5:2:6:9:80:16:16:10:20:20:4:2:50:24:0 but the log show me that it didn't works that way as it blend 194 frames : decomb: yadif deinterlaced 1 |...

@Ritsuka
No Perian or any other codec for decoding H264 content in QT.
I saw this type of video artifacts on another movie, again on a black background. The artifacts disappears if I disable psy-rd by lowering subme to 5.

Re: x264 r935 performance boost
My tought on the new x264, it's a FYI not a request for support. I also know than Psy-rd is still experimental. I really don't like the new x264 version... That's why : longer encoding time / bigger size / video artifacts in QuickTime. Clean commit/build from SVN 1720, OLD = x264-r930-91d865c.tar.gz...
