Casino Royale

Just to follow this up... I had encoded Casino Royale using the previous beta but decided to re-encode it (from the disc) in 0.8.5b1 to make use of the anamorphic setting for Quicktime. However I had a slight hiccup...the program closes after about 5 minutes - doesn't crash, just closes without comp...

Guess it's time to fess up and say that the binary question was levied more at ffmpegX, i like my options + filters... Ta for the guidance though, i'll definately be looking into it. Your enthusiasm towards b-frames verges on enlightening, to think i'd almost written it off. Thanks again, no further...

Thanks for that, i can't see the b-frames thing being an issue really, is it widely requested? The picture quality i got from a 1500kbps encode was astonishing, especially compared to my older xvid and divx encodings. The file size was comparable to a video that had b-frames too. x264 features

I have been using ffmpegX but the ecoding speeds for h.264 (mencoder) were getting stupid - one pass of a 1:30 film took 10hrs! As a result i've given up and gone back to handbrake I'd stopped using it because ffmpegX gave me greater control. I encoded the same film as above, two pass, in just under...
