So you don't know of any other programs for the mac that can do it either. Pay or free?

Re: DTS passthrough possible with any combination of apps on mac
Unfortunately that does seem to be a bit beyond me. I don't know how or what that (seemingly) source code is used.

DTS passthrough possible with any combination of apps on mac
Is it possible. I really need to free up some hard drive space and thus far i've had to just leave video_ts files for my movies with DTS sound. I've been looking around and I haven't found any way to encode a dvd into h264 and keep DTS intact. I'm hoping for a solution that will allow me to rip the ...

Handbrake not outputting chapter markers in mkv files
I've been unsuccessfully trying to get handbrake to output chapter markers into mkv files. I have "create chapter markers" selected, but the chapters do not show up in qt. They do show up if a rip an mp4 file. I am playing back the files using qt 7.5 with perian 1.1 installed. The activity...

Is it possible to change deblocking settings after encoding?
From what i've read it seems that the "deblocking" settings only affect playback. Is it possible to alter the deblocking settings of an already encoded h264 file?
Thanks for any input

is it possible to convert m4v with ac3 to mkv w/out re-encod
I have been ripping files to m4v for my apple tv as it is the only format that supports ac3 h264 and works correctly in animorphic mode in the apple tv. In the future i may want to get a different media streamer and i doubt it will support an m4v with ac3. Will it be possible to switch containers to...

Re: ABR set to 2500kbps.Is it possible to cap max BR to 5mbps?
I inserted ":vbv-maxrate=5000" into the box in the h264 settings. According to VLC, the streams bitrate jumps to 10mbps at some points. I don't get it.

Re: ABR set to 2500kbps.Is it possible to cap max BR to 5mbps?
do you know what those 2 commands mean exactly? i would like to be able to add them to my current settings. Plus they were probably made for the default apple codec and i would have to adjust them some for perian.
you have me in the right direction though. Thanks

ABR set to 2500kbps.Is it possible to cap max BR to 5mbps?
I"m trying to rip movies for my hacked appletv. I've tried ripping at 2500kbps.(h264 ac3 mkv). 99% of every movie is excelent. But there are a few seconds in certain movies where the bit rate jumps to 7000kbps and up that make the apple tv pause and skip alot for just a few seconds. I want to s...

Re: Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning
Actually i found a solution to my anamorphic problem. I just have to turn cropping off. I assume that since the bars are constant black that they shouldn't take up too much bit rate.

Re: Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning
well i took your advice and reduced the bit rate to 2500. It still looks very good. Do you have any advice about getting anamorphic par to work correctly with quick time in appleTV with perian. I encoded at 2500 with anamorphic par on using a mkv container. when i browse to it in sapphire it lists t...

Re: Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning
i never brought it to my apple tv. I couldn't get it to play in VLC or quicktime with perian so i didn't bother bringing it to my atv.

Re: Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning

Re: Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning
5.39GB. Thats too bad about the size limitation. I wasn't really concerned with how large the files were. I use them with my hacked appleTV which has ample hard drive space. I need to use .avi because of the ac3 passthrough. I would like the videos to look as good as possible and be playable in Saph...

Re: Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning
hmm. I'll take a look but i doubt that will be the kind of thing i would grasp easily.
It seems like handbrake works for the vast majority of poeple. Any idea why me and the only other person i know who uses it are having the same problem?

Rip completes, but i can only play back the beginning
I'm having trouble. I've tried ripping multiple DVD's and i keep having the same problem. I can only play back the first few minutes of the film. In Quick Time it just thinks the file ends after the first several minutes. VLC thinks it has the entire movie, after it reaches the same point in the mov...
