Re: Wall e problem, log included and I have search the forums...
As of v0.9.3 protected DVD's won't work unless you have VLC installed (or you use another tool to decrypt them first). Look under encrypted DVD's on the link below for more info: http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/Sources Not sure it will work with VLC though...I had to rip it down with the very latest v...

VisualHub Discontinued
http://techspansion.com/ Hadn't seen this posted anywhere - so in case folks hadn't heard. On a couple of sites, folks are recommending the snapshot 3 build to replace VH for non-DVD sources. Should be interesting to see who starts creeping onto the boards here... P.S. Thanks for Snapshot 3...so fa...

Re: HandBrake Development Snapshot Builds
I know you're looking for feedback...but my only note is that it seems to be working as designed using my custom ATV/iPhone setting. If you're looking for more downloads after us first wave folks you may want to make a post in the regular 'topics' area as opposed to only in the announcements (announ...

Re: newbie--one movie file for both iPhone and Apple TV
You also need to upgrade to .92 so you get all the audio goodness in a single file (nothing like having stereo on the iPhone and the same file playing 5.1 on your ATV). I'm not sure (someone else can comment), whether the anamorphic stuff works on the iPhone in versions prior to .92 - plus a host of...

Re: AppleTV Settings
Actually, it probably isn't it. If it's a music video it was probably shot on film. It's probably telecined, not interlaced. You're going to needlessly throw away picture detail by deinterlacing, most likely. I don't do any music video stuff so good to note that they are usually shot on film. Freis...

Re: AppleTV Video on iPhone
For the original poster - go read up starting at the link below and follow it for a few posts - a pretty good discussion on some nice settings (I use a variation on them). http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=382&start=75#p27116 That should get you going, and you'll get a great file...

Are they the same as the lines in the documentation below? If so read through there and you should have your problem solved.

.92 vs. SVN - Quality Oddity
Thanks in advance, and please let me know if this is more appropriate to ask somewhere else (or not at all) :D I was having some problems with a few titles with A/V syncing right back in March, so I pulled down the lastest SVN a few weeks back (Handbrake Version: 0.9.3 (2008031900)) to see if it sol...

Re: Apple TV help for the newbies
Newbies: Use the Preset. It is there specifically for newbies and average users and functions great and is a nice balance between size and quality. I never have a problem with it when I do my generic encodes... Otherwise your best bet is to read every thread and just keep slowing modifying the prese...

Before you get hammered for not searching look at the thread below. They even use LOTR as the example.

FYI - ATV 2.0.1 Released
Not specifically Handbrake, but for those using ATV's 2.0.1 software is now available via software update. Some folks are claiming speed improvements on the interface, but the big feature is there is now a GENRES menu in the My Movies area so you can finally sort your HB converted movies instead of ...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.
Personally, if I were you, I'd wait for .9.3 to start The Simpsons episodes... And before anyone asks, I have no idea when .9.3 will be ready. :) I've been using the latest SVN builds (hand't grabbed anything in the past week though), but had been holding off for a formal release of the latest and ...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.
I probably should post my current settings; I've tweaked some of those settings since I posted that. Any chance of seeing / saying what you've tweaked recently (wasn't sure if you updated your original post with the settings)? I've been using your settings for the past 6 weeks as I re-ripped some s...

Re: Audio out of sync on 5.1
Do you have your computer hooked up to support 5.1? If not then then audio playing out of quicktime is probably in sync because it is playing the stereo track instead of the 5.1 (I'm assuming you're using the AAC + AC3 setting so you have both audio tracks, which could be a big assumption). A couple...

I'm also interested nightstrm if you'll post what you're using for the 'one encode to rule them all' in the 'best settings' thread.
Great job to the developers - my aTV's have never sounded so good!

Re: AppleTV to support Dolby5.1 Natively
... once I ripped it using AnyDVD and ran that through (as opposed to straight from the disc) it worked perfect. Is there an equivalent to AnyDVD for the Mac? Mac the Ripper seems to be rather out of date, and I'd like to avoid installing Windows on my Mac. Thanks for any info! I use AnyDVD in a Pa...

Re: AppleTV to support Dolby5.1 Natively
Another encode with english DD 5.1, and no subs, out of sync by same amount. Are you doing this straight from the DVD or have you ripped it down first? I was having a similar problem with 3:10 to Yuma with it being off by about 2-3 seconds for the AC3 (while the AAC was perfectly in sync), but once...

Handbrake in MacBook Air Review...
MacWorld just posted their review of the new Macbook Air and have included a column in their performance tests for Handbrake doing an H.264 encode (and another shout out for Handbrake in the article itself). I checked the past few reviews and it looks like this is the first time they've included tha...

Re: Any help having thumbnails for ripped DVD's into Apple TV
Again not a handbrake issue...but if you use iTunes or MetaX simply drop the art in there. The problem will you'll have is that the art is embedded in the file, and the sync process (if you are having the file transfered to the ATV hard drive) from iTunes to the appleTv doesn't get triggered on a ch...

AppleTV to support Dolby5.1 Natively
Watching the kynote from MacWorld and it looks like they are supporting 5.1 Dolby Digital on the AppleTV natively (via a software upgrade - no more hacks required). Apparently someone figured out that no one would want to pay $2.99 for a rental in DolbyProLogic... Wondering how and the format, but I...
