I had to choose VTS_01_1.VOB since VTS_01_0.VOB only shows the menu.

Yes. They are white when playing on a computer like VLC. But not when watching it on a TV.

And this issue/"issue" is still present in version 1.7.1.

It doesn't look nice, though. It looks unnecessarily and others can be confused and wonder why they are there at all when they are not in use.
