Re: Dream hardware configuration

HB can use more than one CPU at a time, depends on many factors. Indeed, which is why before the OP goes and buys a 5GHz i9 they may be better served by understanding how much HB will make use of said CPU for their own Preset. My Preset is a modified HQ 576p25 Surround setting with fixed framerate....

Re: Please amend CLI reference

I don’t use it myself but according to the CLI —json will change the FORMAT of the log file not actually generate a log file. --json Log title, progress, and version info in JSON format Understood, which is why I was so happy that I was pointed to the log creation page which explained how to do it....

Re: Please amend CLI reference

What issues were you having with —json? I generally have permission issues even in Windows 10. For example I can only save the output file in the same folder structure as the original one, the flag "--json" would return no log file. Managed to get around things by using good old Excel to ...

Right, ok perfect, so either increase CPU speed or be happy. Multi CPU is not a factor.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Ok, up to you, its really useful and might be worth mentioning in the CLI docs then, I couldn't get "--json" to work.

Re: low CPU Usage using CLI AC3 Passthrough

Other than that you have more CPU than x264 really needs. As you noted you could run multiple instances but this can have its own issues. Understood, so practically speaking my total time taken floor is about 24 minutes for a ~4GB DVD rip to ~1.5GB HQ 546p Surround m4v file. What I am asking is eff...

The subject matter is low'ish CPU usage (#50%), not really the ensuing file structure.

Is there a way in which I can get Handbrake to use more resources?

Thanks,

Andrew

Re: low CPU Usage using CLI AC3 Passthrough

This is not a general question, it's a support request for specific encodes. I wouldn't say its a support request, I am just asking the community if anyone has had a similar experience with low'ish CPU usage. I've run the same script on two T5610 machines with the same CPUs (one has 32GB the other ...

Re: Dream hardware configuration

Just a note to say that I get very odd behaviour in terms of CPU usage. Running a downmix preset the CPU usage will run at above 80%, whilst when running AC3 Passthru I can only get 40-50%.

Re: Windows batch file examples

Understood, I don't have too many options though as my Linux machines are on purpose on a physically separate network so am tied to Windows. I'm kind of ok with it if I can solve my current two stumbling blocks: -cannot save a file to a separate folder (needs to go into the same folder where it scan...

Cheers.

Re: CLI arguments from the GUI?

Am struggling with permissions now, fine on the GUI side, but if I move away from the source folder in CLI I get a file output permission error. Re: CLI arguments from the GUI?

That worked really well, command line I used was: handbrakecli.exe --preset-import-gui --preset "HQ 1080p30 Surround" -i "T:\\SD DVD\\10,000 BC" -o "T:\\SD DVD\\10,000 BC\\10,000 excel 1.m4v" Now if I wanted to run multiple commands, would I simply stick them in a "...

Turn a GUI Log File into a CLI Command line

Dear All,

Is there a function by which I can see what CLI command line is generated when I run a process via the GUI? I can see the Log file but just wondering if there is an output screen of the actual command equivalent.

Thanks.

Andrew.

Re: Windows batch file examples

This makes sense, however I want to run say only 10 at a time rather than scan a 1000 folders. To do this I will use excel to concatenate the command line for each DVD folder structure. Question is: How to a run a sequence of commands, by this I mean "Encode Structure 1", wait till complet...
