The H.266 offers better encoding at a given bitrate. Seems to be no real support yet.

MP4 is codec agnostic and meta tags make file management easier

Video editing tools work with uncompressed video which requires much more storage

Even the original MPEG can support 4K x4K but H.264 can handle 4K video easily

I use a PC with iTunes to play content on Apple TV 4K

Link to the NAS box manufacturer's page is helpful for figuring out what is wrong

I found widescreen DVD to be problematic which is why I figured I would inquire

I have a lot of DVD and some BD TV shows. Some tools I have do not work with widescreen DVD properly. TV shows tend to have a lot of VOB files in the VIDEO_TS folder to consider.
