THAT WORKED!!!! Never would have thought of that, though perhaps I should have! Thanks very much. I now have builds on Ubuntu, Catalina and Big Sur so I can go from there.

Also, I forgot to mention above, that earlier today as a kind of check I compiled the source code on a Ubuntu 20.04.1 using the same VM "SharedFolders" source after rm -rf ./build and that compile/install ran successfully. I did start HandBrake with no issues but did not really do much tes...

I will try rebuilding my making the handbrake source code local to the VM. I'll post the results here when done in about 24 hours.
