Re: Keep output file exactly the same while only adding burn-in of forced subs
Note: I am updating to the latest version, but I don't think that is the solution.

Keep output file exactly the same while only adding burn-in of forced subs
Description of problem or question: Trying to keep a DVD rip at the same quality (i.e., no additional compression) while simply adding one thing: forced subtitles. I know how to burn-in forced subtitles, but every time I try to add them, the output file is significantly smaller (6.5GB -> 450MB, etc...

Re: Possible to change the "Save As" location to be same as source file?
Thank you!
Extra credit: is there a way to append autonumbering or something to delineate the output files from the original source...?

Possible to change the "Save As" location to be same as source file?
Description of problem or question: Every time I load a file into Handbrake, it defaults back to "C:\Users\<username>\Videos" for the "Save As" (i.e., output) folder. I know that I can go into: Tools Preferences Output Files Default Path, Click 'Browse' to set the default locati...

Re: Re-encode a DVD rip (MKV) with as little compression as possible?
The only reason I worry about the size of the output file is that I want as little compression as possible. I.e., I want it to be as close to the original as possible because the video editor I'm using (VideoRedo) is having problems with the file after it is compressed.

Re: Re-encode a DVD rip (MKV) with as little compression as possible?
Description of problem or question: Thanks. mduell, that one is better than what I've *been* using, but the resulting output file is still a good bit smaller... Even when I tried "Super HQ 1080p30 Surround", the output file shrank from 5.47 GB way down to less than 2 GB. Steps to reproduc...

Re-encode a DVD rip (MKV) with as little compression as possible?
Description of problem or question: How do I re-encode a DVD rip (MKV) with as little compression as possible? The only reason I'm doing it is to add forced subtitles. Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable): I've tried several of the presets, but I think that manual settings are what I need...

Re: Add forced sub-titles only to .MKV DVD rip with no compression?
When I choose "Production, Standard", it automatically changes the extension to m4v. Is that okay?
Also, when I choose one of the Production presets, the "Foreign Audio Scan" dropdown and the "Forced Only" and "Burn In" checkboxes disappear...

Re: Add forced sub-titles only to .MKV DVD rip with no compression?
I guess my question is: what is the *least* amount of encoding that I can perform? I thought "very fast, 1080p30" would result in a file of about the same size/quality as a DVD, but apparently not. I start with an MKV rip that is approximately 5.47 GB and so far, all of my Handbrake output...

Add forced sub-titles only to .MKV DVD rip with no compression?
Description of problem or question: I own a DVD and ripped it to MKV. I don't want to compress it any further. I simply want to add 'forced subtitles' to the scenes that have them burned-in already. (E.g, in a Star Wars movie where an alien is speaking and the DVD automatically shows the translatio...
