That was my only other guess was that VLC is misrepresenting. The funny thing is that VLC does report a DVD Video codec as being 16-bit. In the meantime, since the original post I remember that the audio is lossy and compressed on a DVD in the first place, so there's no use going to FLAC since that ...

Description of problem or question: Hi. I'm ripping to MKV so I can use FLAC as the audio quality in the container. No matter what I do, when I play back the file in VLC and look at the codec info it's telling me it's 32 bits per sample. I have it set to 16 bits per sample - I'm not trying to upcon...
