Thank you for your response. I downloaded MakeMKV and it copied the video to a file of over 5MB. I then processed the .mkv file with Handbrake 1.3.1 to produce a file of about 800KB, about the same as 0.9.9 on Vista. I also discovered that VLC will convert the .mkv file to .mp4 successfully. 1.
