I saw the github issue in one of the other threads and this sounded like my problem so I tried converting without resizing and it actually is exactly my problem (source is 2.7k, destination 1080p). So, the immediate fix sounds pretty simple but doubles the encode time: convert 2.7k mjpeg to 2.7k x26...
