Hardware decoding is turned on by default, just saying. The driver is final, there won't be any updates. Are you sure? Hmm out of curiousity I updated from 1.7.3 to 1.7.2. During that 1.7.2 was uninstalled and 1.7.3 installed. But all my preset stayed the same. Handbrake is not a ripper software. Use e.g. MakeMKV to rip the video titles to MKV files and transcode them with Handbrake afterwards.

Have you tried "Passthru Common Metadata" on the Summary Tab at the Format part?

You Sir, are correct. My mind thought, the question was about the quality.

Ripping does not, transcoding (which Handbrake does, because it's a transcoder, not a dedicated ripper) does.

DVD Shrink gives the option to compress the DVD an it's contents so it fits onto a smaller DVD.

Did you check Allow Upscaling?

Best quality would be to not transcode any source video.

I think, if you increase the RF, then some details can go missing, which can be helpful at grainy sources, if the image becomes more "clear" and thus would be better compressible.

Best video quality is easy to achieve: Don't transcode.

Besides, if you use it in Adobe Premiere anyway, maybe for reencode, why reencode it with Handbrake first?

That depends on the resolution of the video, the quality settings chosen, if you have any filters active... but I think, even then some encoders just cannot work with this many threads.

If you ever have multiple encodings, then best option would be, to run multiple encodes at once.
