4K MKV compressed with AppleTV 4K preset gives 720p output file
Description of problem or question: I have some MKVs that are 4K (1920 x 1080). I ran them thru the AppleTV 2160 4K preset in Handbrake, and the resulting video is now 720p (1614 x 804). If I encode using Don Melton's "other-transcode" scripts, I get the full 4k version. Steps to reproduc...

Apple 4K preset won’t AirPlay
Description of problem or question: I’ve re-ripped several of my videos using the H.265 setting (Apple 4K). This plays fine on all my i-devices and streams fine from iTunes to AppleTV 4K. One problem I’ve discovered is that it fails to airplay from an i-device directly to the AppleTV. Any thought o...

Re: Handbrake 0.9.9 and now no iPhone 3 presets
I restored the prior handbrake from TimeMachine backup. Wrote down all the presets for the Legacy iPhone setting. Then re-updated. Created a new custom preset with all those settings as they were in the old version. When I tried to get iTunes to sync the video to my kid's iPhone 3GS, iTunes gave the...

Handbrake 0.9.9 and now no iPhone 3 presets
So got the message about presets being out of date, and hit OK to update. Problem is, it wiped out the presets for "Legacy" iPhones (ex., iPhone 3GS). Those are still quite prevalent. Files made with the new "iPhone & iPod Touch" preset seem to be targeted at "retina&quo...

Re: PAUSE does not significantly reduce CPU load
Yes it is a reduction, but still seems rather high for not doing any encoding.

[Invalid] PAUSE does not significantly reduce CPU load
I have to resort to pausing handbrake occassionally to do other CPU intensive tasks. Today, while Handbrake was paused, I looked at activity monitor, and saw that Handbrake was still using 26 to 18% of my CPU, even when paused.

Handbrake using a lot of CPU when "Paused"
I've got a G4 MDD mac, and normally Handbrake is the most processor-intensive app I use. Sometimes I need to "Pause" handbrake encoding to give another task enough CPU power to make things (work) go faster. I noticed today that with Handbrake paused, the CPU load didn't really seem to impr...

Performance hit when HB progress window not minimized
Been using HB on a 1GHz G4, which isn't feeling too speedy doing encoding. I've been trying to find settings that make this go quicker and such. One of the things I noticed is that with either the main HB window open, or with the Queue window open, the progress is slower (avg 9 FPS) than if I minimi...
