I found the culprit to be x265. the program "hybrid" has the option to use SVT-HEVC and my CPU is utilized 100%.
downside, it's really getting hot in here

just tested x265 superfast (80% cpu usage): the slower the speed slider is, the worse the multi-threading gets

okay I just tried a 1080p video with x264 placebo and it is at 90% cpu usage but that doesn't explain why x264 superfast was scaling so well with SD content - 3 fps is not a speed I wanna encode with (1080p x264 placebo)

Description of problem or question: Hello I recently upgraded from a Xeon 1230v2 to a Ryzen 2700x and now x265 medium is only 2 times faster (only 50% cpu usage) x264 suerfast has 90% cpu usage and placebo only 60%, what is going on?
