Re: HandBrake 1.3.0 comment Thread

Release notes state "support for Ultra HD Blu-ray discs", however I didn't see anything relating to the pipeline. I presume that Handbrake is still an 8-bit pipeline without the ability to properly handle UHD HDR content? Thank you for the continued development efforts!

Re: x265_10bit ignores encoder-level setting

I didn’t use the bufsize parameter but was able to force my encode to Main10@5.1@High like I wanted.

Re: x265_10bit ignores encoder-level setting

I hadn’t checked it at exactly 160000, my first test was with the safety margin. Haven’t yet tested at length.

Re: x265_10bit ignores encoder-level setting

@Rodeo, you are a sage genius. For anyone else curious, the solution is adding --encopts "vbv-maxrate=159000" (or whatever you want based on the above linked table). Thank you again!

Re: x265_10bit ignores encoder-level setting

Main 10 profile has a main tier and a high tier for levels at and above 4.0. At Level 5, the Main tier has a bitrate limit of 25Mbps while High tier is 100. For L5.1 those numbers increase to 40 and 160 respectively. All UHD discs are Main10@L5.1@High to enable a maximum bitrate of 160Mbps. https://...

x265_10bit ignores encoder-level setting

I wish to encode HEVC at 10bit, Main 10@5.1@High. I can achieve 10bit HEVC at Main10, but Handbrake ignores the --encoder-level "5.1" and I have no idea how to set to High tier instead of Main. I am using Windows 10 1903 with HandbrakeCLI 1.2.2. Log below. How can I force 10bit h265 Main10...

Re: Crop not applying to HEVC in CLI

You are a genius and clearly more literate than I. I won't disclose how long I spent working on this issue before resorting to forum support... However, you are also correct that I read the CLI guide to mean that in the absence of the "--crop" flag there would be no crop applied, that when...

Crop not applying to HEVC in CLI

I am attempting to reencode UHD BluRay remux files. The original source material is in an mkv container with h265 Main 10 video format. The issue I am having is that I want to crop the video (all UHD BluRay is 3840x2160 regardless of the viewable format) to remove the wasted black bars. HandbrakeCLI...
