Thanks for the info. you mentioned "Try the nightly", What is that? I am currently using the most recent version of Handbrake with 1.2.2

Any tips? I've tried again to RIP and came up with 4 titles that the audio shifts slightly into the the movie.

I am not sure what you mean by the "autocrop area". I have played the DVD in VLC and they do show up and it is below the picture screen.

I would use MakeMKV but the beta key expired on 9/29 and they have not updated it yet.

I believe you are correct that the subtitles are already burned into the video because you cannot turn them off when you are watching the DVD.
