Re: Can't build x264 anymore? Get yasm.
this is F"ing magic. the problem is yasm has a mac GUI installer that does nothing. this should really be posted in the wiki with the build instructions; you simply (and obviously) cannot compile hb in a mac environment without installing yasm in this method

apple tv HD spec (from HD/1080p source)
from what i've found and tested, start with the apple tv profile make sure 64bit MP4 is on (and file type is m4v) custom width: 1280* (leave height blank) Crop: Auto (or custom if you know what you want) Anamorphic: Off (you're shrinking from a larger source, you have to do this before you enter wid...

roadmap to 0.9.3: codec support question
looking at the 0.9.3 roadmap, HB is slated to support .m2ts files (which it already does as of the latest dev build) the question is: an m2ts file can contain up to 3 codecs: h.264, VC-1 or MPEG-2. currently, MPEG-2 (obviously) works fine. I was unable to test h.264, but VC-1 freezes the CLI, and th...

blu-ray + Apple TV 2.0
Hello all, I've searched and searched for any info about this and basically what i found was that the new HB dev builds can indeed encode from a non-protected bluray source. my only question is how does it do it in 720p? is there a new preset, or do we just use the apple tv one with auto size? updat...

Windows XML error
This I have not seen before... every time I run HB (0.9.2, Vista SP1), I get the following error when starting up HB. I have tried rebooting and uninstalling/reinstalling HB, with no success. Has anyone seen this/understand it?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: AppleTV take 2 is out (hurray!)
ATV now outputs 1080p video, but can't process it or play it back. rentals are 720 (if you cough up for the hd)

Re: AppleTV take 2 is out (hurray!)
I think the most important question for us is actually a fairly obvious one: Will the ATV 2 properly read our already-encoded anamorphic files. As you remember HB uses both Apple and standard anamorphic flags, which screws it up bigtime on the newest versions of QuickTime, which I'm sure Apple kindl...

no; handbrake does not support file-to-file coversion. it is specifically designed for DVD-to-file conversion. the source is a folder (usually VIDEO_TS) or an IFO/VOB file, and the destination is the file name you want to create. Example (folder mode) source: C:\dvdrips\Dude where's my car\VIDEO_TS ...

depends on your device and how it reads files. first suggestion would be to try an autocrop with anamorphic PAR disabled. if you are forcing an EXACT resolution (eg 480x320) because the device demands that resolution for a movie that does not exactly meet that ratio, the picture WILL be squished. in...
