Re: Encoding Options w/ RF0

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't I want to encode an intermediary at yuv444p? Again, size is of zero issue here.

Encoding Options w/ RF0

Description of problem or question: Do encoding options really affect anything if quality is RF0? I mean, lossless is lossless right? If my intention is to hand off the resultant video to another program for additional processing and I don't care about encoding efficiency (read: size), should I jus...

Re: HandBrake Workflow

Interesting. I'm surprised to you would say I should leave the content anamorphic. I've always assumed for modern playback devices encoding PAR 1x1 would be preferred. Plus, I normally get visually transparent results encoding at 1x1 with a ~33% savings in file size. And by deinterlacing the content...

HandBrake Workflow

Description of problem or question: I'm trying to determine the exact workflow of HandBrake related to dimensions: is cropping applied before or after resizing? In addition, if cropping the original frames' dimensions: is HB cropping against the anamorphic storage dimension (i.e. a DVD at 720x480i)...

Keyframe intervals in x264

Description of problem or question: Wondering how keyframes are handled with regard to x264. I've noticed almost all scene cuts get a keyframe, makes sense as a default. However, it seems in the absence of a detectable scene cut, a keyframe is generated every 12 seconds (at least when 1080p @ 29.97...

Re: Encode start time search

That's all well and good, but I've literally NEVER had a preview encode not start and stop at the exact same frames. If "drop-in" encoding is so imprecise, wouldn't I expect that occasionally previews will add or drop frames? And I understand that in many cases, "frame X" isn't always a complete fra...

Encode start time search

Description of problem or question : Why does queue encoding from time A to time B require the step of "Searching for start time, XX.XX%" (during which the process pauses while position is seeked), yet preview encoding doesn't require this extra search? Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable...

Re: Deinterlacing Legacy Settings

My old version still distinguishes between "encode" and "media" logs. I've included the encode log only as it seem obvious that's where my issue lies, but can provide media log if needed. 0.10.5.0 encode log 1.2.2 activity log For what it's worth: I did try exporting a settings profile from old to n...

Re: Deinterlacing Legacy Settings

My apologies for being such a noob, but at what point in the process should I provide a log for such an issue? • Upon opening HandBrake • After loading media • After encoding (if here, would a preview render provide the same log info?) It's not exactly an issue like throwing an error or poor transco...

Re: Deinterlacing Legacy Settings

Well, that's also my confusion: logs from 0.10.x, 1.2.2, or both?

Deinterlacing Legacy Settings

Description of problem or question: I have a decent amount of—unfortunately—480i content that I'm archiving as mkv. I had been using a quite outdated version of HandBrake (0.10.x) and finally updated. However, some settings have changed. Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable): For my conten...
