The resultant mkv file is 8.5GB for an 88% reduction in file size vs. the original m2ts. Picture quality looks pretty darned good to me. Sure will help me fit a LOT more movies on my 8TB NAS. Now to see what Handbrake does with a regular HD Blu-ray.

OK... I made a couple of changes. I set all filters to Off and bumped the encoder preset to Fast. I also changed Constant quality back to 24 from 20. Now ripping at 7.1 fps with an estimated completion time of around 10 hours. That's livable. I'll be interested to see how the resultant file compares...
