An easier way for getting stuff from tv

I found a good way to get stuff off a tv channel, if you have satellite or digital cable: get irecord (http://www.ammesset.com/irecord/) get a satellite/cable box with a firewire port (ask your service provider, I think the DMCA requires them to give you one for free if you ask) connect it to your c...

Ah...Thats why its best to rip first, use DTOX to get rid of Zero Cells and then encode. http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2937 I was wondering why I didn't have this issue when I did mine. My work flow has become 2nd nature, thus not remembering if I had deleted any cells. Well, I wou...

Turns out my wife has this DVD in her collection so I was able to debug the problem. It's an error in Handbrake's DVD reading code: The cell containing the chapter mark for Chapter 28 was zero length and Handbrake didn't handle zero length cells correctly (it processed the 'end' mark before the 'st...

Re: Dropped Chapter in Star Wars IV

I have one question, though, frenchie16: are you ripping the ‘original theatrical’ version, or the updated version? I only experience the problem with the former; the latter works just fine. Hmm. I do not have the original version, mine is the updated 2004 version, where greedo shoots first (...

Second try

I don't think this is the bug fixed by r1012. My guess is that it's a bad rip or a bad spot on the disk. I'd try cleaning the disk & re-ripping then see if handbrake can find the chapter marks. I tried cleaning the disc. No luck. Here is the log of the encode (exact same settings as last time, ...

Re: No!

Probably fixed in rev1012: http://handbrake.m0k.org/trac/changeset/1012 "Fix to the chapter merging to ensure that when reading from the media we take into account chapters that we have merged. This prevents premature exiting from encoding." Great, thank you. Where would I find such a ver...

No!

Reading the FAQ is too difficult, eh? http://handbrake.m0k.org/trac/wiki/SupportFAQ#mergingbehavior I read the FAQ, thanks for pointing that out but the chapter in question is an average-length chapter, and in the list of chapters all 50 are shown. The ripped movie has only 49. http://handbrake.m0k...

Dropped Chapter in Star Wars IV

I am using handbrake 0.9.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.1. I am attempting to rip Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (The 2004 DVD version) using the iPod Hi-Rez setting, with the only changes being: I selected the second english subtitle track, to give me the english translation of Greedo's Huttese (I had to man...

Wait- no

Sorry to post so many times in a row.
It turns out that did not work. even without the elipsis (…) the problem continued. I am getting a bit frustrated- anyone else have this problem or a way around it?

:P I think I solved my own problem! It seems that Handbrake just doesn't like the '…' character (the chapter in question was called "That's No Moon"), so I just used three periods ('...') instead. It's ripping now, we shall see what happens.

It works for me…

I tested the greedo scene as well. For some reason, forced subs makes the names of the commentators appear. Choose the second english track, without forced subs. However, I have another problem- chapter titles. I enter all 50 chapter titles (which takes forever!) and then rip the movie. However, Han...
