HandBrake

The only options available are DTS-HD in the audio track and an AC3 commentary track. There is no DTS track. If I select DTS passthrough it just falls back to the AC3 encoder.

Again I can pull the dts from this dts-hd track out with mkvtoolnix. So I would love to be able to do it with hand brake.

Well every source that I've tested, off of BluRay rips that I do myself, it has never gave me the option to use the DTS when there is DTS-HD. I will post my log. I was just wondering if handbrake supported DTS-HD to DTS core extraction? I don't read anywhere in the documentation that it does. If it does then I'll post my logs for sure!

I have tried to reduce to core with DTS Passthrough when using a DTS-HD source and it always just copies the DTS-HD source. Is this something I'm doing wrong or does handbrake simply not reduce to core?

I'm not very advanced with it. I did successfully build it and get the .dll I did this through VMWare on the latest build of Ubuntu. I know have the FDK-AAC option in handbrake. When I encode something is media info supposed to say something like FDK-AAC for the audio or does it still just say AAC-L...

Sorry for the late response, a bunch of stuff going on. How much better is FDK-AAC over AAC? Does it have any compatibility issues with anything? Is it worth compiling?

Just curious what the best options for encoding a DTS-HD 2.0 to? It's an older animation and I don't feel like keeping such a large audio file. I am getting mixed answers reading all over the web. Some say Handbrakes AAC isn't that great, others say it's a lot better then AC3, and I just want to try...
