Re: Comparing x264 and NVENC
Hardware decoding is probably more useful for small devices with weaker CPUs I would guess? Something like a Pi?

Re: HandBrake 1.2.0 Discussion Thread
Thanks Rodeo, is there a "Known Issues" thread/document somewhere?

Re: Comparing x264 and NVENC
I suppose I'll probably grab an i7 with HiperThreading to speed up my software encodes in the future.
So, is NVENC a good way to offload decoding? Though decoding doesn't seem to be very difficult for CPUs...
Thank you all for the help.

DTS-HD vs. DTS-HD MA
Quick question,
I'm converting Blu-ray audio to AAC 5.1 for compatibility.
Will using DTS-HD MA lossless as the source produce higher quality audio compared to the DTS-HD lossy core audio?
Thanks.

Re: HandBrake 1.2.0 Discussion Thread
This may or may not be related to what scpetit is seeing, but has anyone else seen anything wonky with AAC mixdown? I converted DTS HD 5.1 to AAC 5.1 and VLC only seems to play audio in the right channel when converting that 5.1 channel to stereo. In VLC codec information, that audio stream is liste...

Re: Comparing x264 and NVENC
x264 quality setting of 20 seems to be equivalent to somewhere between NVENC quality 22 and 23 for file size. However, comparing the two videos, I noticed compression artifacts in the NVENC video. Since time isn't a huge factor, I'll probably stick to x264, even though it takes significantly longer ...

Re: Comparing x264 and NVENC
Alright, I'm going to adjust the quality setting until I get a similar file size and see where that gets me for speed. I'm keeping encoder level to "Auto" and turning off "Deinterlace".

Comparing x264 and NVENC
Description of problem or question: Now that 1.2.0 has brought support for NVENC, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how NVENC compares to x264 with regard to quality. I am running an Intel 6600K O.C.ed to 4.5 GHz with an RTX 2070 at stock. Either that or give me some guidance on ho...
