Re: Encoding is only using ~50% of CPU
Depending on how much of your CPU is used, you could use multiple encodings (Advanvced Settings) so your CPU is used to the fullest. That's actually quite a good idea! I've been doing some testing and turning off Sharpen and Denoise made little to zero difference in the encode speed and CPU usage. ...

Re: Encoding is only using ~50% of CPU
Using a filter like nlmeans will cut your CPU usage quite a bit, as it will lock your encode to the speed it's working at. EVERYTHING has to pass through the filter, and that is one that takes a lot of CPU. Turning that filter off will help a lot. Thanks for your reply. Most of the source material ...

Removing built-in presets stops the preset choice buttons working
I've noticed that when I remove all the built-in presets, the buttons used to select a preset (from one of my own custom presets) stop working. This also affects the menu button. So if you want to only use your custom presets and choose the delete all the built-in presets, you aren't able to choose ...

Best crop settings for v1.6.1 please?
It's been some time since I last used HandBrake to do so some proper encoding. So it's a bit of a shock to me when I see that the Dimensions tab looks somewhat alien to v1.3.3! As coarse as it a sounds, I'm not too fussed about image stretching. I just want to retain as much of the original picture ...

Scheduled priority level - is it possible?
I am doing quite a lot of encoding right now and ideally I would like HandBrake to not hog my CPU during the day and run at full speed during the night. So is it possible to set the CPU priority level as High from 11pm-11am, for example? Then during the hours of 11am-11pm the CPU priority level shou...

Re: Deinterlacing issues with v1.3.0 which were not present in v1.2.2
I have been testing further with v1.2.2 and it seems the exact same issue is present. After checking the dates of when videos were encoded, I think I might have used v1.1.1 on https://ibb.co/ccPx93P which is mistakenly claimed was encoded with v1.2.2 - apologies for that, I still seem to be in 2018!...

Re: Deinterlacing issues with v1.3.0 which were not present in v1.2.2
I will reinstall v1.2.2 again and encode the same file in order to generate a log. I shall post this tonight, all being well. After more testing today, I have discovered that changing Interlace Detection from Off to Default gives me the result I want. So perhaps something is being missed or not proc...

Deinterlacing issues with v1.3.0 which were not present in v1.2.2
Description of problem or question: I am experiencing what seems to be and has been suggested as deinterlacing issues. Below are copped images to help compare - I hope this is allowed. https://ibb.co/Yt10n5s - taken directly from the DVD, no processing performed. Look at the collar on the suit, you...

Re: H265 in new HandBrake 1.3.0 gives 30-60% higher bitrate
That looks like an deinterlacing issue. It is deinterlaced in 1.2.2 and not in 1.3.0. You are exactly right! I did a lot of testing last night to try and find out what the cause. These are the settings I use on the Filter tab: Detelecine - Off Interlace Detection - Off Deinterlace - Decomb -- Prese...

Re: H265 in new HandBrake 1.3.0 gives 30-60% higher bitrate
I forgot to update this thread with my findings. I did indeed find some time to encode using exactly the same settings as I did in v1.2.2, with the sole exception of adding :aq-mode=1 to Advanced Options in the Video tab, as advised earlier. I do definitely feel the image quality is worse. Not so ba...

Re: H265 in new HandBrake 1.3.0 gives 30-60% higher bitrate
I made a similar thread here about encoded files in v1.3.0 being ~20% larger than those encoded with v1.2.2. I also said in that thread that I could see no change in quality - but after having more time to test, I have found that lowering the Constant Quality to 27 does indeed alter the quality for ...

Re: HandBrake v1.3.0 - encoded files now ~20% larger
I am doing that now. Encoding with CF 26 increasing the file size by about 8%, so I am hoping CF 27 will return a similar file size to v1.2.2. After encoding with CF 27, the file size is about 3% smaller than the v1.2.2 file. The image quality seems to be about the same to me - perhaps a little wors...

Re: HandBrake v1.3.0 - encoded files now ~20% larger
Can we see a log from v1.2.2, as well? They should still be in your log directory. If you're using the EXACT same options, the size should be close to the same. But a change in the RF level by a point or two could cause file size to jump. I deleted the old logs before I began my testing of v1.3.0. ...

Re: Deinterlacing doesn't work the same since v1.2.0
In the meantime, I will use v1.1.2 to encode my videos. I don't really see any reason to move to v1.2.0, as the encoding seems to take longer. If you decide you want to use the new release, you could substitute the decomb filter for deinterlace. It has more options, but it also implements the same ...

Re: Deinterlacing doesn't work the same since v1.2.0
The position of some controls have changed, but the underlying settings are the same, and comparing the two logs reveals the same number of interlaced frames detected. Can you be more specific about what isn't working properly? Is the Yadif interlacer working at all for you? Do the other deinterlac...
