Re: 8-Bit Pipeline but 10 and 12 Bit encoding options ?

well I of course don't know what kind of source nor reproduction devices you use but things like banding have never occured to me dealing with my sources (DVD, BD, BD-UHD (SDR, HDR and DV) and mp4-recordings from my drone). Maybe I am visually impaired (just quite not 20/20) or my requirements or my...

Re: i7 9750H, 630HD IGP, GTX 1660i showdown

what quality loss ?? h.264 @ 32 Mb/s is not better than h.265 @ 15 Mb/s qualitywise but the filesize is only 50% of the original and the encoding for 3 hours playing time in 20 mins (NVEnc RF15) is negligeable. After all, the VISIBLE Quality is depending on the player (and the TV of course). For pla...

Re: 8-Bit Pipeline but 10 and 12 Bit encoding options ?

very funny....... when the source is 8 bit (Standard BD) and the pipeline is 8 bit --> what sense would 10bit/12bit encoding make ? just padding the surplus bits with zeroes ??? a 10bit source (HDR) cannot be processed properly because the pipeline being 8 bit same for a 12bit source (Dolby Vision)....

Re: i7 9750H, 630HD IGP, GTX 1660i showdown

Thank you s55 ! of course I do know that in terms of quality/speed/filesize it`s something like a ride on a razor blade :-) (or the choice between plague and cholera.....) What I have found out is that when recoding a H.264 Video to H.265 you will get the same quality/fidelity with 66% to 50% of the...

Re: VP9 to HEVC re-encoding

... in terms of quality loss As far as I have experienced so far, quality is primarily depending on bandwidth. I just have converted an UHD MKV rip (Transformers 5) with original overall bitrate (according to MediaInfo) 71,3 Mb/s to another MKV with overall bitrate 21,8 Mb/s with no (for me) visible...

Description of problem or question: When running Handbrake 1.1 on my Noteook and looking into TaskManager the following behaviour is encountered: During pass 1 (scanning) the CPU runs at 3,9 GHz When starting into pass 2 (encoding) CPU clock drops to 2,14 GHz and stays there. This of course increas...
