Re: A 3-pass encoding?

Wouldn't the answer be in the log for the encode? Perhaps, but I took the answer that was given and went with that. I have been making sure that Foreign Audio Scan isn't selected and have not seen another 3-pass encoding since. The log file in question has long been deleted, so I guess with will ne...

Re: A 3-pass encoding?

Thanks for the reply. I almost never use the Foreign Audio Scan, but looking at the settings, it is enabled for some reason this time. Guessing it was accidental on my part, which might explain the 3 passes. I know I have used it in the past, but never noticed a 3-pass encode. It's possible I may ha...

A 3-pass encoding?

Description of problem or question: I tried to search for this, but didn't find anything. I've never seen this before, but my current encode is indicating that it is on "Encoding Pass 2 of 3". I always use the same encoding settings, with the exception of tweaking the actual bitrate on a ...

Re: Converted file not seen as video file, no errors I can see in log.

Good idea, never thought about that. I ended up with an error that it couldn't find a valid file, but here is the scan log: HandBrake 1.3.2 (2020050300) OS: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.18362.0 CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz Ram: 16316 MB, GPU Information: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 - 26.21....

Re: Handbrake has stopped working... Please help I'm desperate

On second thought, I'll just post the WEV logs for my latest crash that happened a couple days ago. More information is always helpful right? If they help to solve the problem, great, if not, well, I tried at least... Log Name: Application Source: Windows Error Reporting Date: 6/6/2020 2:02:24 PM Ev...

Re: Handbrake has stopped working... Please help I'm desperate

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd like to add that I experience crashes as well. They are very infrequent for me, like maybe once every few weeks. If anybody is interested, I can try to dig up a crash log and maybe someone can compare my log and Footbrake's logs and see if there is anything in commo...

Converted file not seen as video file, no errors I can see in log.

Description of problem or question: Attempt to re-encoded an H264 .mkv file to an H265 .mkv file. Resulting file does not play in any player and checking file with MediaInfo gives no video information at all: General Complete name : D:\XXXXXX\~Conversion Folder\Days of the Bagnold Summer (2020)\Day...

Re: Recommended Settings for converting DVDs

Considering that the highest resolution a DVD would have would be either 480p or 576p (depending on the DVDs region and if it's PAL or NTSC video), I wouldn't bother starting with a 1080p preset. Stick with a preset for whatever the native resolution is (in your case it looks like 480p) and then twe...

Re: Can Handbrake add an audio delay when re-encoding?

I'd like to offer a HUGE thank you for that. I'd never heard of this software before, and I can say that it worked perfectly. Definitely going to experiment with it some more and see what else it can do. Adding the delay was extremely easy, and it was FAST! Took me about 2 minutes to figure out how ...

Re: Can Handbrake add an audio delay when re-encoding?

Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to know of anything that might be able to do A/V sync (free preferably) before I do the re-encoding? Guessing I'm looking at software purchase, in which case I'll probably just get another version of the file instead.

Can Handbrake add an audio delay when re-encoding?

Description of problem or question: I have an AVI video file that the audio is exactly 0.45 seconds faster than the video (found time through experimenting with audio delay in VLC during playback). I'm trying to re-encode the AVI into an MP4 video file, and add a 0.45 second delay to the audio trac...

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ... wierdness ...

Just curious if you ended up with a successful run after removing that subtitle track? That way I can file that in the back of my memory if I ever run into anything like that down the road.

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ... wierdness ...

I'm not going to claim I'm a genius, but I'm hoping that it did help you out. I've been re-encoding a lot of my older video files for better compatibility, and have been doing a fair bit of reading up on different aspects of the software. Basically trying to determine exactly what all these differen...

Re: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ... wierdness ...

This is just pulling an answer out of the air, but did you try to do the re-encode with the "foreign Audio Scan" under the Subtitles section deleted? From what I understand, this is supposed to scan the audio and look for cues that tell it to burn in subtitles that are encoded into the ori...

Re: Major Distortion Converting Specific .AVI to .MP4

Gave the nightly a go with same results. While the log from the nightly doesn't specifically state "error" like the release version did, there are a number of lines that I have to assume are just as bad. May have to chock this one up as a loss... HandBrake Nightly 20180227205614-369b4f6-ma...

Re: Major Distortion Converting Specific .AVI to .MP4

Thanks for the reply. What in the log leads you to that conclusion? I'm curious so that I can reference some of my other logs and make comparisons. My only issue with that thought would be that the original .AVI file plays perfectly through all the players I've tried it on, including VLC, Microsoft'...

Major Distortion Converting Specific .AVI to .MP4

I've tried searching the forums, but it's like trying to find a need in a hay stack, sorry.
