I found that the package and instructions found here http://stupidpupil.co.uk/opensolaris/handbrake/ worked for me on OpenSolaris. I'm getting about 45fps with the AppleTV preset on an Athlon X2 3.0GHz w/ 2GB DDR3 RAM.
*Of course, I'm running OpenSolaris 2009.06 now.

Re: Building on Solaris 10
Thanks for the edification and edumacation. I'm sure you are right about the copy and paste. I tried to clean up the linefeeds, but apparently that wasn't enough. I'm new to this stuff, but trying to learn. I tried downloading svn2907 from the snapshot page but I got an error when running make... ma...

Re: ATV 2.x Advanced Settings (All Sources)
Thank you for pointing this out to me, I have never seen this before. The frame rate was 36.75 for some strange reason. It seems to be a problem with Disney titles. I've had it happen to me a few times. The solution is to force the framerate to a specific number. I've been using 29.97 for Disney DV...

Re: ATV 2.x Advanced Settings (All Sources)
I had a similar problem recently with some Disney titles. The problem was the framerate setting "same as source" would result in a file with a framerate of 36.75. You can check the file in Quicktime Player to see what framerate iTunes will see. These files would play fine in iTunes, but wo...

Re: Lion King PE ends up at 36.75 FPS (won't play on ATV)
I actually did this last night. I selected the Apple TV preset, moved CQ to 62% and locked framerate at 29.97. My AppleTV liked the resulting encode just fine. I used 29.97 because that's what Handbrake reported when I left it alone and told it to encode the disc. But what do I do when I'm not sure ...

Lion King PE ends up at 36.75 FPS (won't play on ATV)
I encoded Lion King Platinum Edition (main title from Disc 1) last night and I ended up with a file that plays great in iTunes on my Mac, but will not transfer to my AppleTV (this file cannot be played...). I read in these forums about someone else having similar issues with Mulan (another Disney an...

Re: AppleTV 2.3 update breaks AC3 5.1playback?
Would it be possible to fix this issue by inserting an empty AAC track? Seems like this would a simple way to fix old encodes rather than redoing the files from scratch.

Re: ATV 2.x Advanced Settings (All Sources)
I've been following this thread with great interest. I've tried the constant quality @ 70% setting for quite a few files now and I feel like I get similar quality to 2-pass ABR encoding, but without having to do the video twice. I assume that when you guys are talking about CBR - that is the same th...

Re: HandBrake for Solaris
Is anyone willing to write a quick start guide for compiling HandBrake on Solaris? I'm pretty new to Solaris, but I installed it on an AMD system so I could use ZFS with my filesystem. I was successful in installing Solaris, SAMBA, etc. but I still don't know enough to feel confident about compiling...
