Re: Change aspect ratio in version 1.5.1

I'm seeing this exact problem while trying to encode and fix a DVD mastering error. The documentation is now outdated, and none of the previous techniques to manually change the aspect ratio work anymore. No matter what you do, Handbrake automatically adjusts the resolution to maintain the original ...

Re: Masking an area to ignore during detelecine

If your animation is soft telecine, setting your encoder at constant, same as source with Decomb at Default should take care of it. Detelecine isn't needed in this case. Can I clarify what you mean by my animation being soft telecine? This is a 30i broadcast of a 23.976 live-action show, but during...

Masking an area to ignore during detelecine

This is kind of a weird question. I've been encoding HD recordings, and for stuff that was filmed, I want to detelcine them to 23.976 fps. However, for some broadcasters, their logo animations are annoyingly 30 fps. Handbrake understandably chokes on that, and drops the wrong frames during animation...

Re: Really weird Detelecine problems on 60 fps source file

Ok. This should be fixed in the next nightly build. https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/commit/d572956c90cffd6c221368af69ad129e2bc84bdb You don't need the detelecine filter. Just set the output framerate and CFR. Wow, thank you! I honestly hadn't realized that detelecine was only intended for in...

Re: Really weird Detelecine problems on 60 fps source file

Just bumping this. I've got all the source files and the logs above. Anyone else able to confirm Handbrake's behavior here? And is that the expected behavior?

Re: Really weird Detelecine problems on 60 fps source file

Are you sure the credits are 24fps, not 30 or 60? I can't download the clips at the moment, but it sounds like the classic case of mixed framerate content. Try leaving the framerate as same as source, variable framerate, and see how the scene looks. That was my first thought, too! Maybe it's like D...

Really weird Detelecine problems on 60 fps source file

Description of problem or question: I'm trying to encode a 60 fps broadcast recording (In this case, Fox, which uses 720p60). The source material, The Orville, is shot at 23.976. I've used handbrake before with detelecine, and it can handle properly reducing 60 fps to 23.976. I just enable detecine...

Re: What's the status for Quick Sync deinterlacing?

Thanks for the quick reply. Understood on the complexity involved in re-introducing it.

It's also good to know that it would simply be basic deinterlacing anyway. Even when it's available, I'm not 100% sure it's worth using over a better (slower) deinterlacing option such as yadif or a decomb.

What's the status for Quick Sync deinterlacing?

First, thanks for making such a quality piece of software. It has saved me so many hours, and has helped me efficiently build my collection over time. I had a question about the future of QSV in Handbake. At one point before the 1.0 release, users had the ability to configure Quick Sync deinterlacin...
