One more question. After testing with VLC and Quicktime I see that the defaut display size between the two is different. A lot different. Have a look at this screenshot. I wonder if this has an impact that might cause my movie to play back with an ever so slight jerk. http://www.husar.us/blog/wp-con...

Video Lag and My Settings
I have a problem with a lag in my collection that is making me wonder if this is a hardward issue or simply from the settings I am using. I am using HB with the following setting to convert my DVD collection. VIDEO Output: AVI Codecs: AVC/H.264/AC-3 Audio FPS: Same as Source Average bitrate: 2000 2-...

But in your case you are going from what appears to be almost no compress at all to probably more for ...

sdm, thanks a ton for the details instructions and the link. This is exactly what I needed. My AVI was indeed encoded with 5.1 but not having all the setting right in the plist file and MIDI was why I was not getting it sent to my reciever. I am happy to say that I am now 5.1 and very happy. Let the...

5.1 AVI Questions
Okay, the more I read on this forum the more frustrated I get about backing up my DVD to build a media center on my MacPro G5. Just when I think I have all my settings how I want them I read something else and find out I need to revaluate my back up strategy. I have done all my tests in mp4. Now I r...

Good point on the video_ts not cataloging in iTunes. But you can play them and assign dvd covers to video_ts rips in Front Row. I did it with DVD Assist. Seem to work just fine but you still can't drag them into iTunes. Here is a link to DVD Assist if you have not tried it yet: http://mysite.verizon...

Let the back up begin.. but one question remains.
Okay, I have been playing with Handbrake enough now that I am ready to start backing up my DVD collection. I think my HB setting are pretty solid for my needs. As I am reviewing Media Center software now to use and make my final decisions on that. But I have come down to one final questions. To use ...
