another problem occurred. I have recorded a very long video from eyetv (aac latm 5.1 channel again) with 7,72GB. mkvtoolnix 14 will stop encoding with "failed" reliably at 4,17GB without any additional error message. video is damaged.

yes, that`s what I'm saying. I just have converted a 5,28 GB file from ARTE HD in Germany (same issue as ARD) with mkvtoolnix to mkv to fix the audio issue and then with handbrake to mp4 (very fast 720p 30) file has now 1,2 GB and I like it.

I have the Same problem as Dennis: ARD HD in Germany broadcasts h.265 and aac_latm 5.1. To answer your question, Rodeo, the video encoding to h.264 is working fine. And the workaround with mkvtoolnix is acceptable until handbrake fixes the audio issue.
