Re: .tts subtitles

You need to extract the sub file from the tts container to be able to do something with it. I'm not sure what to use, since I don't have any tts files to test them but try to demux it using the tsMuxeR, which is a freeware and portable, so you don't even have to install it. Also supposedly the tts f...

Re: About Upscaling

I was waiting 1 month for some answer... However, I actually understand why you did not answer: Because I'm right and you would have to agree that the feature should be available for everybody, not only for the those who are familiar with the CLI. Or, if I'm not right, then why do you have it there ...

Re: View original bitrates of a video file?

You need to know the details about the original video file you gonna process in the HandBrake? Download an excellent freeware utility called MediaInfo. After the installation MediaInfo appears in the Context Menu. When you right click your media file a little window opens with many details concernin...

Re: Handbrake and NVenc - best preconfigured settings

Don't waste your time. I tested it hoping for reasonable results, I actually bought the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti card because of this NVEnc bull..., but comparing the resulting quality I have found that I don't have any use for it.

Re: About Upscaling

Thanks mduell. Perhaps I'm wrong but here is my example: PAL DVD standard is 720x576 which is 5:4, but many old movies used to be 4:3. So if I try to convert such a DVD to the original 4:3 aspect ratio I need to stretch it to 768x576, which you guys don't want me to do, or decrease the height from 5...

Re: About Upscaling

Thanks JohnAStebbins – sometimes there are cases when I use the upscaling. When I use it I can see instantly in the preview what is happening with the picture, how it is stretched, the ratio can be measured on the screen, something which I doubt could be done with the CLI. Fortunately I have the nig...

Re: About Upscaling

Thanks Woodstock - please if you are interested open the link I supplied on top and read the first article - NMaverick's description how to do the upsacling - that really worked in older versions, I'm using an older nightly version (20171204-8e2a082) where it can be done...

Thanks mduell, I understand the official position concerning this issue, however, I was asking: Can somebody let me know when was the "obscure" upscaling possibility removed? I mean in what version of Handbrake was it was removed? Also s55 said on Tue Apr 25, 2017 5:04 am: ...It's something we may s...

About Upscaling

Description of problem or question: Hi, just a question about upscaling: I'm using an older nightly version (2018 I think) where the upscaling is sort of possible as it was described by NMaverick here: https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36307&p=170608&hilit=upscale#p170608 Now I'm thin...

Re: Selecting H.265 changes automatically the Encoder Presert to Fast

mduell The Medium preset was mentioned for example here : https://www.winxdvd.com/resource/best-handbrake-x265-settings-hevc-encoder-guide.htm I tested it with the same setting as the Fast. It probably would be better than Fast, but it also takes longer time... I'm going to decide when I find the di...

There is one more question I was going to ask concerning the converting result : How to find if the setting I used is OK as compared with the o...

Re: Selecting H.265 changes automatically the Encoder Presert to Fast

OK guys. Thank you for your partial explanation. Still, can anybody explain to me: There are the followings encoder presets: Ultrafast, Superfast, Veryfast, Faster, Fast, Medium, Slow, Slower, VerySlow and Placebo. There must have been some reason to set the Fast as the default. WHAT was the reason?...

Selecting H.265 changes automatically the Encoder Presert to Fast

Description of problem or question: Hi, often I'm using some Average Bitrate, 2-Pass encoding, Turbo first pass, Encoder Preset Slow. Set: Detelecine: Default, Deinterlace: Default, Preset: Default, Interlace Detection: Default, Denoise: Off, Sharpen: Off, Deblock: Off
Set the filters tabs as I specified and leave them alone. If there are no combing artefacts the filters do nothing. If there are - they work wonderfully.

Re: [suggest].ass compability

kilerport - I would recommend very good program called the Subtitle Edit (freeware). Just open the the mkv video file containing the ass subtitle in it. The content of the ass file appears in the window and then you can edit it or just save it as the .srt. Then using the mkvmerge you can add it to y...

Re: Information about encoding

OK, sorry I haven't realized that the mkvmerge replaces the previous information about the Handbrake. I often fix the subs with the Subtitle Edit and then merge them to the mkv. So that's why I couldn't find anything about the Handbrake... I was wondering that it would be nice if I could add somethi...

Information about encoding

Description of problem or question:
I couldn't find any answer so I'm creating this topic:

Is there any way to insert information about who have done the encoding, when and what Handbrake version was used to encode the video, so it would appear in the MediaInfo?

Thanks

Re: What is prefarable?

mduell - I just tried the RF 23, yes the bit rate is about half as compared with the RF 20 (2 907 kb/s), and also the resulting file size which is 1.00 GiB GiB. The picture seems to be OK and on my PC, I don't see any difference as compared with the previous RF20 / 6049 kb/sec one. So I should be ab...

Re: What is prefarable?

mduell, do you mean ignoring your advice to use RF in low 20s? I'm not ignoring it. I tested using 2-pass encoding and Avg Bitrate set to 6600 kb/s. That was BEFORE your Thu Jun 07, 2018 12:47 pm reply where you recommend to use RF in low 20s... Now I just tried the RF 20. The resulting file size is...
