Re: Best RF Quality for Blu-ray?
I use 21 for my favorite movies (especially those with dark scenes and action). I use 22 for most average Blurays. I use 23 when I know it's a movie I'm probably going to watch once. If the file sizes are coming out huge I add a mild denoise. If they still come out huge I occasionally throw a med or...

Re: (SVN5170) Mixdown from DTS-HD MA (6.1 ch) breaks
Just tried svn5185 and now the encode will not proceed with either of the 6.1 tracks but still works with just the commentary tracks. Log please. Having exact same issue with svn5159.
Commentary tracks are flawless, but the 6.1 tracks are garbled.

Re: [Committed] PGS Subtitles
I'm finding this same problem with Kill Bill 2 Blu Ray, where the subtitle is stuck at 54:26 and remains on screen until the next forced subtitle at 56:16. I found similar problems with Kill Bill 1 at 15:51 and goes to 41:06 (!) and from 1:37:13 to 1:40:01. The rest of the subtitles work fine. Thing...

Re: Loose Anamorphic defaults to 720
After reading the forums for a couple of hours I've learned that I'm the only idiot who still uses Universal while most have moved on to High Profile. While I wanted the files to work with Apple's ecosystem, that has become less of a concern with Android devices and improvements in media extenders a...

Re: Loose Anamorphic defaults to 720
This is awful. I now have a backlog of Blu Rays with subtitles I can't use loose anamorphic and Universal preset. The only setting that doesn't bump itself back to 720 width is strict; none, loose, and custom are all broken. This means I cannot even make the 720p(1280 width) files for my legacy devi...

Re: Loose Anamorphic defaults to 720
No dice with that build. The build I installed June 5th worked perfectly. I wish I had saved the installer.

Re: Loose Anamorphic defaults to 720
Anybody know where I can get older nightlies? I could always just downgrade to the one I was using June 5th temporarily.

Loose Anamorphic defaults to 720
No matter what the GUI says, when I try to use loose anamorphic on the latest nightlies it defaults to 720 width. I increase the width to 1920 and start the encode and it spits out a 720 width file. This worked fine on the nightly I installed June 5th in order to get PGS subtitles. I upgraded to the...

Hp Touchpad Settings?
It seems like a lack of a decent third party video player has forced us to use the default system video player on the HP Touchpad. The latest version cannot play "Universal" encodes (damn, I have 1.7TB of those). I'm trying "Normal" right now, but has anyone else had success so f...

Re: Movies
I encode everything on Universal. Plays on everything and if I want I can re-encode those files into smaller ones for laptop, ipod, cell phone use. I know there is some image degradation by using the Universal files as source opposed to dvd, but it is for the small screen and barely noticeable. Stor...

There is no way to encode h.264 for both PSP and iPod
Every time i tweak the file it breaks it for one or the other.
You can do mpeg 4 but it looks lousy compared to h.264.
I have a nano and a 3.93 psp.
Comments?

I tried to ask this and got locked. I can't get the files that handbrake produces to work on both an ipod touch and psp, regardless of quality. I've searched it out on the forum to no avail. The presets for both show a difference in encoders (mpeg4 vs. h.264) but latest firmware psp (3.30+) can do b...

One encode for Nano, Touch, PSP, Treo???
I have a new Nano, a Touch, a PSP, and a Treo all of which are capable of playing video. Is there a format or setting that will play well on all of these?
I realize some compromises have to be made.
Thanks!
