Re: Encoding for Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet
I didn't mean to bump this thread. I posted a zinger to the previous post, and then thought better of it, and tried to delete. For some reason, deleting posts is prohibited....so, here it is.

Re: Encoding for Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet
This is a pretty old post, so I didn't notice it had been resurrected. I use a custom preset, but, you could start with the Android Tablet 720p preset. Problem with almost all the presets, is that they default to H264. The HD8 can handle x265 (aka. H265), so I'd change that because you can get much ...

Re: A few queries regarding settings in 1.0.3
Now that it's no longer enough to select "Same as source" for the framerate due to the reasons mentioned in the docs, it seems the onus is now on the user to guess at the best framerate to use. Could there be an automatic selection or indication of what the peak framerate is for the sourc...

If someone has any ideas on the...

Re: Audio quality-based encoding setting
Well, I can at least say that (1) is low quality and 10 is higher. I did a 5.1 encode and quality 1 was 42MB and quality 10 was 69MB, so the file size also indicates that 10 is the higher quality. By default, my encodes default to bitrate 384 with 5.1, and that filesize comes out somewhere between t...

Audio quality-based encoding setting
I see that the Windows version now includes a "quality-based encoding" option. I see this in the audio track section, where I can select bitrate, or quality. Possible quality values are 1-10. What does this mean? I'm looking for the effect and some idea what selecting 1-10 does? Is 1 bette...
