Re: Output file size much smaller with Sonoma
I have also noted smaller encodes since updating to Sonoma. It appears that Sonoma makes smaller AAC files without changing anything on video encoding. Did Sonoma somehow change AAC encoding to make the audio files smaller?

Re: What filters remain 8 bit in 1.40?
Can anyone give me an idea if converting the filters to 10-bit is a major undertaking that will be a long time coming or a simpler task? Would it be likely to arrive in a 1.50 release or a 2.00 release? I'm mostly interested in the NLMEANS filter as I have found that gives the best results for deali...

What filters remain 8 bit in 1.40?
Description of problem or question: What filters can be safely used to preserve 10 or 12 bit processing in version 1.40? Is the NLMeans filter 10 bit? Is there progress towards making all the filters 10 bit? Sorry if this is documented somewhere already, but I couldn't find it in the documentation ...

Thanks SO MUCH carrc99!!! The dotnet-sdk-5.0.205-Win-x64 version also installed for me on my laptop where the desktopruntime version of .net5 failed to install. I'm up and running Handbrake 1.40 now!

Re: Handbrake 1.4.0 asks to install .Net in Windows 10
I have looked at the .net 5 installation log and I have Window v6.1 (Build 7600: Service Pack 0) and the .net 5 runtime needs windows > 6.1 OR windows 6.1 AND servicePackLevel of 1. Is there any option other than installing Handbrake 1.4 on a new Windows 10 computer?

Re: Handbrake 1.4.0 asks to install .Net in Windows 10
Are there some versions of Win 10 Pro that cannot install .net 5? I have a Thinkpad P71 with an Intel Xeon mobile E3-1535 CPU that has been running handbrake V1.33 constantly for months. I cannot install the desktopruntime version of .net 5, so I cannot run Handbrake 1.40. Do I have any options?

Re: Ryzen 9 3900x X264 not maxing out all cores
The 16 core Ryzen 3950x is due to be released in September :D ! Intel does not seem to have an answer, at least for the present. I've even heard rumors online of Zen 2 Threadripper processors being released soon if I decided to really go all out, but of course that would be REALLY expensive  ...

Re: Ryzen 9 3900x X264 not maxing out all cores
Either is fine. Performance will be the same. Thank you! Still would like to hear from zorin 1 as to how the x265 encoding with Handbrake compares to x264 and if it saturates all the 12 cores  Waiting to pull the trigger on a new motherboard and processor to make a Handbrake workstation and ...

Re: Ryzen 9 3900x X264 not maxing out all cores
What operating system would one want to use if they were building a box solely to use as a Handbrake encoder. Are Unix versions typically more efficient at utilizing all available cores and memory to the fullest or does WIN 10 have advantages in compatibility?

Re: Ryzen 9 3900x X264 not maxing out all cores
Cannot find ANY info in the benchmark forum (or on the whole Board for that matter) on the new Ryzen 9 processors and their ability to do x265 encoding. Earlier generations of Ryzen processors had somewhat disappointing x265 results which was why I was asking. Original poster had questioned why the ...

Re: Ryzen 9 3900x X264 not maxing out all cores
I was actually considering building a new computer using one of the recently released Ryzen chips as they seem to have amazing power for the price. I was wondering how performance would be with software encoding with x265? Would this be more likely to max out all 12 cores? What about x265 with a 4K ...

Is Handbrake handling of greater than 8 bits on the horizon or a long way off? Now that ripping of 4K Blu-ray discs is possible, it will become a much more requested feature!

Do the 10 and 12 bit dlls work for version 1.03? - NEVER MIND! I just needed to re-copy the dll files after I upgraded and they are working fine
